Clearly a lot of you guys are taking what I was trying to talk about out of context. A lot of you just seem to be coming across as rude/stuck up. You guys seem to be getting mad at me for posting this. The only reason why I did was because while watching Mac Pro reviews, many apple users like yourself left many comments scrutinizing the buyer of the Mac Pro because they were 1) a kid and clearly wouldn't use the power of the Mac Pro 2) their parents bought it for them..you catch my drift. So after seeing people say these things, I wanted to ask you guys what you thought about that. So please stop ganging up on me! Just read the comments to this video and you'll see what I'm talking about:

Here is one of the many comments directly from the video. I know these people are probably just ignorant BUT THIS IS WHY I POSTED THIS UP! So don't get mad at me about the Granny MacBook Pro thing..that was just an example..

"what is it with kids being able to wipe their a**** with 100$ ********** bills seriously what were your parents thinking buying a ********** 7 year old kid an 8 core mac pro u would be better off with a 300$ netbook u will NEVER IN YOUR LIFE use all of that power and if you had half a brain you would know your needs and that a mac pro is not one of them. sorry but i work hard for my money and seeing something like this pisses the ******* out of me."

I know you guys may not care what computer someone uses or whatever but there are a lot of people who do think of computers like the Mac Pro as prestigious. Just because you don't doesn't mean other people don't too.

I think you have a point, but this is the same with just about anything expensive that someone has that others don't think they should have...the high school kids with sports cars or luxury cars that their parents bought them, college students with 60" TVs in a dorm room, etc. etc. The only difference is that there's a lot of jealousy and people thinking they know what's best for someone else thanks to the anonymity of the Internet. I wouldn't pay much attention to YouTube comments especially, as looking at comments for non-technology videos has proven their value.

Meandering discussion

Some people buy apples because they work best for them, others because they look cool. I travel a lot, think osx is way better than windows and bought the 13"mba rather than mbp because I thought it looked cooler. Probably a fashion victim, but hey, the world has room for all of us...

...can't decide whether to upgrade to the new mba or wait for a better chipset in the next revision tho'...

Who gives a fig about a prestigious name. The MBP remains the most capable and solid laptop on the market. The price premium of the 13" vs. the white MB is not huge, but the step up in quality, fit and finish and durability is. If Granny is buying MBPs, good for her. Sure, it'll offer more oomph than she'll ever use. So what? My "pro" usage of the same machine is in no way diminished by the fact that Granny spends her days playing Farmville on hers.

Most capable? I don't think so. The MBP is underpowered in comparison to other laptops. For the specs of a 15 or 17 inch MBP you can even buy <$1000 laptops.

Apple does something right in order to justify the Pro label. You won't find any other laptop that has such good latency as a MBP which is very important to me.

Shame they dropped the express slot, which makes it less pro however.

Laptops create lots of heat, especially when they're packed with all the high powered circuitry that they have today. I argue that it no longer makes sense to use any material other than aluminum to construct laptop cases. As far as heat transfer, durability, and aesthetics are concerned, plastic cannot compare. I would not be surprised to see Apple completely do away with the plastic cases, and instead anodize their aluminum cases. The added cost of using aluminum over plastic is just another premium Apple users are obviously willing to pay for a high quality product.

My only gripe with the 13" macbook pros is how it can be a "pro" model without a dedicated graphics card. Isn't video editing capability one of Apple's claims to fame. I understand those looking for max power in a notebook opt for the 15" or 17" model, but why call the 13" model a pro if it is closer in specs to the non-pros than the bigger pros?

I'm looking forward to buying my first Apple, but as size and graphics processing are my primary concerns, I'm holding out for a 13" mbp with a core iSomething (or AMD) and an Nvidia 330m or similar. I don't particularly care if battery life or the optical drive is sacrificed.

I could care less about who is using the laptop. I DO care about Apple moving the laptop away from the pro user and more toward the consumer. I hope the new MBA can fill the void of the high end consumer market and the MBP continue to be the best option for Photoshop/Logic Studio/FCP, etc.
