@brendan

Keep checking back at the refurbished site, even throughout the day. They add and take stuff off the site a couple of times a day sometimes, from what I have noticed. But the Unibody Macbook Pro is $1699 there right now.

Thanks for the advice....I received my bonus today and will be pulling the trigger soon. Just can't decide between the prev gen MBP 2.4 or the unibody MBP.

I am going to be purchasing a mac very soon (been saving up for 2 years) and I am torn on whether or not to get a MacBook Pro with a 2.4 GHz processor or a MacBook with a 2.4 GHz processor. I do a lot of web design in my spare time, and I also have to do a lot of typing because of my accelerated english class. One of the main problems is the price of the MacBook Pro, and MacBook is the price. I would really like the 15.4" display over the 13.3" but i do not see the major differences other than the better screen and speakers. Quite honeslty the second graphics chip does not really matter to me, i rarely play video games (i usually play sims 2). What do you think i should get? If i got the macbook pro i would only have enough money left to buy the hurley backpack and Office 2008, but if i got the 13" MacBook i can get BOSE speakers, a griffin elevator stand, a 500 GB external hard drive, a 20" monitor, and a wireless mighty mouse and keyboard. Although i really like the MacBook Pro... Tell me what you think

If youve been saving for two years and have the money for a pro then get that.

i dont want it to have like a bazillion problems out of the box

In that case, and with all due respect and admiration to those here with "perfect" MacBook Pros, consider avoiding the Pro. After many, many issues with last-generation Pros, I thought perhaps the unibody models would be better. Five (!) unibody MacBook Pros later, I gave up and bought a MacBook instead. Problems I encountered with the new Pros included DOA SuperDrive, rattling cooling fans, failed logic board, unacceptable backlight bleed, dead pixels, and four flickering screens (at low brightness on battery). Ridiculous for a $2500 machine.

Bought the MacBook, not a single problem. Bought a second MacBook for my wife, not a single problem. The screen isn't quite as nice, but at least it doesn't flicker.

Does the accelerated English course cover the difference between "to" and "too"?

Also keep in mind that the MBP maxes out a 6gb of ram where the macbook maxes at 4gb. I am in the same situation right now, I have a 1.83 GHZ MBP 15" and looked at the new macbook, air, and the older gen white one at bestbuy today. I plan on going to the apple store and looking at the new MBP models tomorrow. I will be making a purchase late next week and will have the funds to get even the new 17", but am tending to lean toward the 2.4 13" macbook. The bigger screen is nice and I do ALLOT of architectural drafting but even my 2.4 black macbook (stolen) handled the drafting software without a problem so it is just personal preference. I do like how they made the keyboard light up on the standard 2.4 macbook though!
