lol, i agree 100%

i have no idea who this o'grady person is and his predictions are probably as accurate as the next guys.

people just need to stop wasting their time and wait until they release them.

i know that this is macrumors.com but when 200 people expand with their own opinions and predictions, it gets a bit overkill imo.

apple sued him once (and lost) for a product leak so he's not exactly an average joe.

All this speculation is retarded. There are ZERO authentic photos OR descriptions OR specs of the upcoming models, so there is NOTHING to discuss. End of story.

Which makes the whole thing so exciting! I can't wait!

enough with the games apple, just bring on the new MBPs!!!!
i'm ready

What games has Apple been playing? They haven't leaked multiple prototypes or rumors. They are doing what they always do: stick with their secretive plans. Apple isn't playing any games, we are.

We can be rest assured that refresh will not happen until sometime in October (14th). We're still in the 3rd Quarter as of now. Apple's stock is in the tank, it would only make sense to have a new release in the 4th Quarter to pad those numbers for the end of the year.

We've neglected to post the image since we felt it was clearly fake.

"neglected" does not mean "decided not to do", it means "forgot to do".

... no, you don't have to thank me. ... O gee, you shouldn't! ... I really mean it! ... No, stop! ... Ouch, it hurts! ... NOOOOOOOO!

Actually, no: the first definition of "neglect" given by Wiktionary is: "To disregard or pay little attention to something."

As to new MB/MBPs, I've given up speculating. We'll know what they are when Apple decides to release them.

Apple can be just laughing at us guessing the release dates of the coming Mac laptops.

screen...

These rumors are killing me!

I remember when the Macbook was first announced. I watched the keynote feed here, checked out the pictures and specs and went off to buy one a few days later.

Now it's always in repairs and it's seriously annoying... Is anyone in Germany interested in a black Macbook? :p

I think this would be nice and sole those top case problems (cracking and discoloration). And it would go well with the new silver iPod nanos:

Mockup

Note the plastic display cover doesn't dent or cover the wireless antennas. When closed it would be just a black macbook.

less plastic around the screen, please. I think we'll see more glass, more shiny and less plastic around the screen. Maybe even something to make the screen look like it's 'floating'...glass edges instead of the plastic/metal around the screen???

that is just funny!! One of the worst fakes ever, you can clearly see that trackpad is added with some software. Not to even mention that he is filming with iSight, but no green light is showing webcam being active ;D

Whilst you may be right, there is no way you can be certain. The main reason being that it is a completely new model.

Hmmm. I'm on the verge of buying a MacBook Pro to replace my increasingly decrepit PowerBook G4, but some of the details that have been emerging over the last few months are disturbing me a bit.

Black "flat top" keyboard? Ech. Split trackpad with two buttons? Hell no.

And as for some of the earlier rumours, no FireWire 400, full-size DVI or internal optical drive? Combine that with the current incarnations of MacBooks that don't have the numberpad under the 789/uio/jkl/m keys which is something that is likely to continue with this new model.

My old PowerBook running Tiger is starting to look more and more attractive compared to one of these 'new' MacBook Pros with Leopard under the hood.

I agree. My Powerbook G4 with Tiger is running great. Very reliable hardware and software, NEVER been in repair; made in the pre-iPhone era.

The design is great as is, no need to change it. The powerbooks and macbook pros have the best keyboards of any laptop.

I have to agree that going with two mouse buttons will be a mistake. Two finger right click is so much more efficient. I also hope they keep the option of a matte screen. Granted, in many cases, reflection off a glossy isn't that bad, but why concern yourself with the problem to begin with?

And I see no reason why the MBP needs to get any thinner. 1" is already very thin and I don't see you gaining anything by making it any thinner. If they can shrink things enough so that they can make the case thinner than 1", then they might as well keep the 1" thickness and use the extra space to improve the cooling system or put bigger drivers in for better speakers or something else useful.

I fear they will not , unfortunately .

THIS MOCKUP = HUGE FAIL
Not , I'd buy it on looks .......depends what was inside though !

Don't you think that the Apple marketing dept has something to do with at least some of these 'leaks' ? .....the hype then lives and breaths on boards like this until fever pitch is reached , then boom , new machines! , happens every time that I can see & I think we are almost there :D:apple:

It seems that some of these new details are a step backwards, such as the smaller trackpad. I highly doubt Apple would shrink the trackpad especially since the MBA has a much larger one and it would be easier to use "Full" Multitouch on a larger trackpad.

YOu Know wHaT WOuLd Be KiilllER?!?! If they dumped the trackpad and just the entire rest area infront of the keyboard have multitouch right beneath the aluminium:eek::D;). Wouldn't that be so sweeeet that soul incorporate the whole "full multitouch" rumor part. ....I should pursue a career in apple labs! Apple if you are reading, offer an internship to me and I'll work for just tuition!:D:D

Jason O'Grady
Mac tablet where are you?

O'Grady has heard that the new MacBook Pros will retain its more traditional boxy-look and not adopt the tapered edge design of the MacBook Air. We're not sure if that completely correlates with the previously leaked MacBook Pro image that does seem to depict a tapered edge.
It doesn't correlate with AppleInsider's rumors either.

O'Grady also believes the new MacBook Pro will be thinner
Why am I not surprised?

Other details spotted in early prototypes: black "flat top" keyboard like the MacBook Air, slightly smaller trackpad than existing MacBook Pros, and even a split trackpad with two buttons.
Why would the trackpad be smaller, I wonder. Black keyboard I think is almost certain.

In addition, O'Grady claims the incorporation of "full Multi-Touch support" in the new trackpads.
Good to know.

So, Apple is still making prototypes of the MacBook Pro? Maybe they cannot choose which one to make final. :p
Or maybe they won't be released for quite some time.:(:mad::mad:

Are many people just innately disappointed on this board? Whenever Apple releases a product, loads of people complain about it and say that it's a let down (no matter what product it is or how much better it is than the current model). Now, people want something more to be disappointed about......so they are starting to complain about disappointing rumors. It's all speculation until the final product is released. It's fair to be disappointed about a final product...but why waste the emotion on a mere rumor?

I'm hoping for a radical redesign but I'm not expecting one in October.

What would people think about a polished metal look for the case?

i won't get one

A few years ago I started an 'Apple savings account' which I pay into monthly so I could buy any Apple stuff without thinking/guilt.

I have a lovely 16GB iPhone 3G, a 15" MBP, an Airport etc. etc.

That account currently stands at £1,354 but I will NOT be getting the new MBP if it has the MacBook/MacBook Air keyboard. I just can't stand them.

Radical redesign Macworld next year , yes to the polished metal finish ....as long as it was real sturdy feel to the thing ie: real metal & none of the plastic painted metallic colour keyboard nonsense .

Nobody likes grammar...

It seems like it would be correct to write:

"We neglected the image because it was clearly fake" when using your definition.

I think the original intent was more:

"We decided not to post the image because it was clearly fake."

But "neglecting to post" using your definition means "we paid little attention to posting" which is clearly not the original intent.

All of this is neither here nor there though. It's time to upgrade the Powerbook G4. This seems like as good a time as any.

Neglected - ignored: disregarded; "his cries were unheeded"; "Shaw's neglected one-act comedy, `A Village Wooing'"; "her ignored advice".

No need to be a smarty pants now.
