MicroCenter is running a pretty slick deal on refurb MacBook Pro 16” base models for $1499...

Doesn't say whether these are "refurbished" by Apple... or... "by somebody else"...

Seems like Refurbished by MicroCenter as they have their own 90 days warranty with the option to extend it

I am going to look at one of these this morning. I have never bought a refurb from Micro Center and I am curious to see what the condition will be and if any of the initial warranty will apply since these machines were released last November.

My 2019 MBP is a MicroCenter refurb. While the box looks like one you would receive from the Apple store, the reconditioning was done by a third party. The job was done well; the laptop looked and felt just as good as what Apple would provide. I did buy the 3-year extended warranty, which was only $150. It should cover the keyboard but not accidental damage. I'm not really traveling like I once did so that last point isn't a big deal.

I had the same experience. I picked one up last week when it was 1599. I was skeptical at first as it wasn’t apple refurbished, but micro center seems to stand by the products they sell and my MacBook appeared to be in like new condition

When I compared to eBay prices on refurbs and used, it seemed pretty favorable. Especially because micro center is local to me.

I just picked it up. I found and open box 16in for $1439 at my local MicroCenter. Looks Brand new. Not a scratch on it. I may go pick up another before they run out. Not sure if I will add the warranty just yet or not.

Assuming there isn’t a ticking time bomb inside, it looks like this will turn out to be a great deal for us!

Thanks!

Did you have any warranty left under your serial number?

Thanks!

Did you notice any blemishes or issues? Did it comes with the original Apple 96 Watt charger?
It looked basically like it would have come fresh from apple, in pristine condition with original accessories

No warranty left

No blemishes at all. Came with original charger. Mine was an open box refurb but it was still in New Condition

Maybe that is Apple unloading NEW machines by throwing a bone to retailers?
The more I think about it, I’m assuming they’re moving inventory prior to a 10th gen refresh. Even taking that into account this seems to be an abnormally good deal.... possibly a 2020 dearth of sales on higher end laptops combined with a coming refresh.
