Interesting subject. I've had my 15" rMBP for about 9 months now and I often comment on how white the screen looks compared to other screens.
I've been lucky so far as mine is the "more troublesome" LG screen but it's been fine.
I would not accept the screen hue(s) in the op's pictures - no way! Or Shmanky's!

I wouldn't accept it either. I've gone in to the Genius Bar three times for the yellow display. On my third visit they replaced it with another yellow display. So I'm on my second yellow display. I will be making a fourth visit to the Genius Bar.

I had the same issue with a cinema display after a panel replacement. Thankfully I have a i1 Display Pro and it did a great job on calibration. I think that the factory calibration is to the panel and hardware, ( someone please confirm ) and this issue will happen again until rMBP is re-calibrated. On the cinema display not such and issue as same ( LG ) panel was used, but I this the real issue is the difference going from LG to Samsung panel if rMBP had LG to start with. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Hello,

For me the issue with my brand new rMBP 15 screen is a little different : my screen tint is not uniform !

I think my issue is due to backlight uniformity of the screen.
On a Black Full Screen, I can clearly see a kind of yellow hue on the left side that makes the colors warmer on this side of the screen and on right side, tint is cooler as you can seen the White Screen.

Here is a photo of a Black image in full screen :

Same test using a White image in full screen :

What do you think about it ?

I got it replace with exactly the same screen ! Even word because less brighter on right side. I am really disappointed with a $3500 computer having a so bad screen !

Really feel for you guys!

The QC (quality control) issue is unfortunate, but can happen.

The poor customer services and rude staff behaviour is inexcusable, and not 'aligned' with apples paradigm, as being a customer centric company.

Make sure you make a log of whom you spoke to and when, any issues, grievances and solutions offered. Write an email to CS (customer services HQ)and cc the store lead, area sales manager and feedback online. Quote any so called 'company policies' they gave you in writing then cc CSand the store lead, and ascertain if they are indeed, truly the companies' policies.

Your pictures doesn't clearly show the issue, but my display has the same problem. I gave up from a IR one to a yellow-tinted one. Now I'll try a 2nd replacement. Hopefully I'll get a... frankly, I'm not hopeful but I want keep exchanging it until I get a decent one or while my patience lasts.

Hello,

I finally got a Samsung on that is more uniform.
A little bit yellower on bottom right but really better so that i will keep this one.

I own the 1st gen retina macbook pro 15'' with gt650M, no yellow tint, but i have been leaving with the ghost effect for 2 years now :(

And when i was on warranty they assured me it would go away...
Not a happy camper with this problem, but i love my mac so i keep it

My eyes keep following that yellow gradient mask every time I look at the screen. It's annoying, I think I'll never stop noting that...

I hear you man, but Apple went with so many supplier to build a ''unified'' computer that they kind of forgot the quality should be unified too.

Mostly when Apple can read this forum or their own forum and notice all the problems people still have as of today.

The yellow tint has been there since the iPod touch came out, then spread out to iPhones as well...

If they solve it once and for all, no more in-store repair, exchange etc.
Wouldn't they gain a precious time, money saver and overall prestige ?

for a 2K machine, this is not admissible !
