I got my Macbook Pro about 2 days ago and I noticed today that the screen doesn't align with the base of the Macbook Pro completely.

Here is a photo (sorry for the quality, it was taken from my mobile)

Is this normal? Does anyone else have this problem?

Any advice, thoughts, or rants are welcomed. :)

From what I can see that's a huge difference. Not normal, take it back and ask for a replacement or at least a screen replacement.

^^
Thanks

Can anyone else give their opinion?
In person, it's really small - but damn, on camera it looks really big.

I don't think I'm going to take it to the Apple store soon as my nearest one is 45 minutes away and I'm sure the repair will take over a day too - so I want to know if its really a defect or something.

That is a very common defect, but if it doesn't meet your level of satisfaction, exchange it for a new one. I have that same problem, but not as bad. I am perfectly fine with it. I have tried pushing it back, so it is flush with the rest of the casing, but over time, it will "migrate" back to its original position.

To be honest, it's not even noticeable. It's like a quarter millimeter off, I have no idea how the hell the camera is making it look much worse than what it really is. I'm probably not going to exchange it, because then I'm sure more things are going to get screwed up once it gets repaired.

That would annoy the hell out if me. If I paid for a $1000 plus machine it better be perfect. I'd ask for a full exchange.

I'll try to take another photo tomorrow but it seriously doesn't look as bad as that photo in my opinion - so I think I'll just show you all. I'll take it with my camera rather than my phone.

Can someone tell me though if they have a Macbook Pro if they're computer closes perfectly?

My mom has the same 13" MBP that you do. No issues. Its aligned fine. You've only had it for 2 days. Bring it back, and they will exchange it. There shouldn't be any fees. Show then the problem, and you should be walking out with a new one. Just remember to bring the box and everything.

Ugh. The problem is that my Apple Store is so far away and I don't think it's worth it. Not sure. I'll show you guys the picture tomorrow as promised.

Take it to the Apple store and get it realigned. Or replaced even. I am sure they will do the realign for free.

Mine was misaligned too. Then I got it exchanged. I got another misaligned one back. It is a common problem...

lol....i would go postal if mine looked like that, that should warrant a replacement or repair.

There is no need for a replacement... an Apple technician can align the screen within minutes. Once you take the bottom panel off, there are screws than take care of this problem. Probably something a Apple Genius can do within 10 mins.

IF it s a quick fix at the apple store I would just do it.

NOTE: I accidentally voted incorrectly...my MBP DOES line up properly. I suck at trackpads (coming from lenovo trackpoints)

I would ask yourself

(1) Do you care enough?
(2) Is it affecting usage (i.e. is the magnetic latch not as strong due to this)?
(3) Will you ever resell your laptop?

If yes to any of these, take it to the Apple store within the year and get it fixed/replaced.
