The planet is just overcrowded by humans.
Some of us need these to do our work and are relying on their shipment dates being accurate.

Sounds like a wider issue in Shanghai, from the way some other posters were talking about their unrelated shipping delays on various carriers. This would be indicative of a wider issue related to staffing on the ramp, fuel shortages, or power outages effecting air traffic control perhaps?

Is it really mechanical, or is it a labor issue? Does UPS have an impending vaccine mandate that employees are rebelling against? I smell a situation similar to Southwest here.
No, I'm using a low spec computer to do my work while I wait for this to arrive. I quit my job to build a startup and had to give back my old computer last week so I have two options. Expect this MBP to turn up before I have to return the temporary mac mini to apple within the 2 week window or buy another computer because apple can't fulfil their delivery dates.
Quite amazing you can't imagine any scenario where people need these to arrive in a timely manner.

My iPhone 13PM is stuck in Korea at the moment. I was hoping to get it by Friday but it looks like it will be pushed to next week instead.
Same here, originally said arriving Friday, then went to “updating estimated delivery date” and now it says Friday again. Praying it does actually arrive on Friday 😍
So yesterday went to Best Buy where I preordered and it didn’t come in, this explains that, but good news the store had received several for in stock of the pro so I was able to swap that out. All 👍 Love this new MacBook Pro
This seems like poor planning on your part, not an issue with UPS or Apple.
I find it amazing that some folks just want to live their lives by the skin of their teeth. If you are seriously building a business, try some strategic planning.
Don’t build a house of cards that will fall if UPS is a day or two late.
Apple should have its own transport aircraft, it's not like they cannot afford it. Plus, transporting goods would most likely be a tax deduction, and Timmy could fly to China any time he wants.

There are well over 60 cargo ships off of LAX that have yet to unload and portentially carry way more important things in them, such as medication. And people are worried about their Macbook.
I always got my new stuff shipped from Apple by FEDEX. I guess in the past few years they switched carriers. to save money? I prefer FEDEX over UPS. it did not always be that way. UPS was the best in the 1980's 1990's.
So sorry your new toy is late. You’ll just have to use your old computer a little longer. It’s not like these employees are paid nothing to deliver everything you need to live 😥
One of my friends that was a pilot in the Air Force now flys for them has been complaining about a lack of maintenance on the planes and the inability to get replacement parts for them due to shortages. He joked a few weeks ago we may be back to rail and container ships only before thanksgiving as it’s getting unsafe to fly.
Apple needs their own fleet of jumbos to move their product from the brutal factories their customers so their lifestyles are not interrupted.
