I always got my new stuff shipped from Apple by FEDEX. I guess in the past few years they switched carriers. to save money? I prefer FEDEX over UPS. it did not always be that way. UPS was the best in the 1980's 1990's.
We’re not talking about a boat.

That’s actually all that’s talked about on this website dedicated to luxury Apple products.
Apple products are not luxury products (with some minor exceptions)

They are consumer products made in giant factories and sold at Wal-Mart.

No, I'm using a low spec computer to do my work while I wait for this to arrive. I quit my job to build a startup and had to give back my old computer last week so I have two options. Expect this MBP to turn up before I have to return the temporary mac mini to apple within the 2 week window or buy another computer because apple can't fulfil their delivery dates.

Quite amazing you can't imagine any scenario where people need these to arrive in a timely manner.

That’s a you problem.

Logistics is never 100% accurate. Things can, and do, delay shipments all the time. Mechanical failure, storms, traffic jams, fires, robberies, and etc.

If you are living on the need for 100% accuracy in a delivery estimate then you have problems.

Hell UPS could get it to you on time and it be DOA…

Honestly, they are all tanked right now. I always used FedEx for the past several years, but I have not had a single shipment arrive on time in the past 18+ months. Nor have I ever been refunded my premium charge when I choose First Overnight.

Wow some people here are so out of touch. The plane may have had technical problems and it needs to get fixed. And people are like I don’t care if the pilots die in an unsafe machine give me my MacBook now!

I remember my train was cancelled due to a suicide, someone jumped onto the tracks and got hit, and some selfish hipsters at the train station were yelling at the poor railway staf trying to help. Like I don’t care for the reason and I don’t want to use the next train in one hour I want you to put a replacement train on the tracks right now! It’s a sad Me Me Me society we live in.

For sure... It's the me me me and mah rights entitlement environment we're living in today. So many selfish uncaring people out there. All stirred up exponentially and legitimized over the previous four years.

That explains why my shipment has been sitting in Shanghai for 2.5 days with it only saying “We are updating plans for your delivery” and other weird and vague tracking status notes such as “the package will be sent to your destination city.”
Surprised by UPS’s lack of contingency plans
Maybe their employees don’t care about delivering **** anymore for peanuts? So you have to wait a couple more days? It’s not the end of the world.

So that's why my AirPod Gen 3's were in China for an extra day? Weird...

Actually nearly 2 days...

This seems like poor planning on your part, not an issue with UPS or Apple.

I find it amazing that some folks just want to live their lives by the skin of their teeth. If you are seriously building a business, try some strategic planning.

Don’t build a house of cards that will fall if UPS is a day or two late.
If I have to I will work around it. Doesn't mean I want to or should have to. This is how the world works. If my food delivery doesn't come I won't starve but its an inconvenience. If my car breaks down and takes a week to repair I will still be able to get places, its just harder.

My very simple point that seems to somehow offend your "I don't care if stuff doesn't arrive when it should" point of view is that plenty of people do need these machines and aren't just buying them on a whim to play with.

So, counterpoint. I bought a maxed out 14” as soon as I could. Apple estimated delivery Nov 3-5. Updated to Nov 2. FedEx is now telling me Oct 29. We’ll see if that holds up. I can see it’s really close now and wouldn’t be surprised if it comes Oct 28.

edit: I don’t know why it’s coming fedex and not UPS. I didn’t select anything.
I think they use all the carriers as they are shipping a lot in short time.

And what are you going to do if the computer is defective on arrival? What if your power goes out, what then? Is your startup doomed to failure if you miss a day? A week?

I’ve started multiple companies and you have to plan for things you can’t control. If your that hard up for a computer, then maybe just keep the Mac Mini permanently, or get yourself a 13 inch Pro or a MacBook Air. If those don’t work for you go by a Windows or Linux machine, whatever you need to do your work. You may have to buy a couple of computers to make it work. If you don‘t have the money to buy multiple computers, then you should be prepared To run up your credit card or go get job to get you by.

Everything is a you problem if you want to look at it like that. If it affect you then its clearly a you problem eh. Screw it, who cares about customer service, timescales or anything because thats a you problem.

I will be fine if this turns up in another weeks time. That doesn't mean this isn't annoying and an inconvenience. I could have gone out and bought a high spec computer last week and taken a large monetary hit on the off chance UPS have a massive delay but that seems like a silly way to cover for something unlikely to happen.

Most people just do what they think is best at the time and hope that its a decent decision. If this arrives before next Tuesday its not an issue. If it doesn't, I will sort something out.

Mine arrived yesterday and I watched UPS drive past my home 3 different times over a period of two hours. I think he was just messing with me because when I answered the door he smiled and said enjoy your new macbook being kind of sarcastic.
just in time for a trip to Europe.

As others have mentioned, I'm seeing a similar issue with my  Watch. It was sitting in China for days and now it's been sitting in Japan for over 24 hours. In my experience, UPS is far more unreliable than FedEx. I just love how UPS gives you a delivery date and then changes — or entirely removes — it. Happens to all sorts of packages for me, from pet food to QVC orders to Apple products.

Say that to Apple when they are waiting for the in-store stock...

Everything coming out of Shanghai seems to have been delayed by about 24hrs. Pushed the shipment time for my 16” Pro out by another day ?

Seriously folks... UPS is one of the better logistics companies. I'm sure it will get sorted. Would you rather it get sent by FedEx?

Yes, as long as it arrives when they are stating it will.

My Mini came FedEx. I found it odd, but figured that with all the new goodies shipping, UPS is probably drowning in it all...
