Same thing happens to me. And the only thing that fixes it is a reboot but I don't want to reboot every time it wakes up from sleep.

i am also having the same problems (2.4ghz, 17inch mbp), sometimes, when it wakes up the mouse lags a bit while connecting from the airport, also (less frequent) the screen doesnt turn back on, the keyboard is not responding and the trackpad doesnt work...

also, a couple of times it seems the computer did not go to sleep, when i pull it out of my backpack its extremely hot, i have to to a hard reset, let it cool and then start it again

:/

Well, it seems like the 10.5.1 update solved my problem - it hasn't happened to me yet after the update (about 4 sleeps ago).

My sleep issues improved tremendously with Leopard. It's always a 3 second wait for the sign-in box now. With Tiger I often had to wait 20 seconds for it to load. I'm sorry to hear that it is worse for many people.

New 2.2 MacBook with Leopard and a Core Duo MacBook with Leopard. Problem occurred before and after the 10.1 update...

When the computer goes to sleep, waking it up freezes the whole system and the AIRPORT symbol disappears on the top right corner.

If I disable AIRPORT before going to sleep, it wakes up fine. Someone else has to have the same bug besides my 2 laptops and my buddies G5 tower with Leopard (and AIRPORT wireless) which does the same thing...

Using wired LAN I never had a problem coming out of sleep.

As other people have said, shutting off Airport before you put it to sleep is a good remedy. It's just very easy to forget!

I found, the problem was worse when my MBP was coming out of sleep in an area where the last router it was connected to wasn't present. A significant bug for a laptop owner!

Nevermind... I just had it again this morning. It doesn't happen under 10.5.1 as much as it did under 10.5.0 or Tiger, but the mouse movement is worse.

SMC Reset worked for me... double login

MacBook 10.5.1 installed last weekend >> 2 days later noted MB was hotter than hell in my bag. Pulled it out and battery nearly drained (closed it with a full charge and Airport on). Then noted that when closed, it wouldn't sleep but light stays solid and I can hear the HD occasionally kicking on (the same sound I usually hear when I open up the MB from sleep by lifting the lid). It seemed to be stuck in a loop.

After reading this and other forums with same issues, tried SMC reboot (take out battery, hold power button 5 seconds, replace and reboot). All is as it should be now, with minimal delay on awakening and prompt (5-8 sec) sleeping on closing. Hopefully the problem won't come back in a few days.

FYI, I was also getting an odd problem where, on awakening and getting the password screen (I have it set to enter password on awakening), I would enter password, then my desktop would show for a split second, then I would get password screen again and have to re-enter before I got to my desktop for good. This has gone away now, but I mention it because I haven't seen anyone else describe this behavior.

anyone using iStats widget or taskbar? someone on the apple support forums uninstalled theirs and the waking from sleep has been flawless ever since. i did the same and can report that the laggy/stuttering mouse is gone. i made the change 2 days ago... my wife and I both use the SR MBP and so it gets woken and put to sleep 5 to 10 times a day so i think thats a pretty good track record to say it fixed the problem.

I took IStats off about 4 days ago and have not had a problem since then. I dont even have to turn my wifi off or anything. just close the lid and open it hours later, PROBLEM SOLVED....

About 2 weeks ago, I did a fresh install of Leopard. I was running the iStat widget and iStat menus. I did not re-install these when I did my fresh install. So, it's either this or doing a fresh install of Leopard that solved my problem.

Does anyone else have the problem where upon awaking the screen is black and nothing can be done to fully wake the computer up? This has happened to me several times in the last few days.

I have a 2.4 with Leopard and was having both the laggy mouse and the black screen problem (maybe 1 in 5 awakenings did not have a problem). I uninstalled iStat about 2 weeks ago and have had zero problems since.

Stop complaining. Leopard will let your computer go to sleep when Leopard decides it deserves to sleep. Not a moment before. If you don't like this, tough luck. Leopard knows what's best. After all, why would you leave Tiger if Leopard wasn't the bestest operating system ever?

remove iStat

Yep, removing iStat got rid of my laggy mouse problems too on my MacBook Pro. Thanks for posting this suggestions people. It certainly saved me loads of time instead of reinstalling my system.

FYI Apple support couldn't figure this out. I'm glad someone came up with a solution!

Happy Holidays!
:p

I purchased a BRAND NEW MacBook Pro (2.4ghz, 2gb ram) and I've had the exact same problem as well!

I went to my local Mac Store and they took the battery out and press the power button for 20 seconds to reset the Power Management Unit which seemed to the help for a while but the problem has restarted.

I've just removed iStat and going to see what difference that makes!

EDIT: REMOVED ISTAT AND ALL SEEMS TO BE GOOD!

wth??

iStat got nothing to do with the laggy thing

im running on a MBP 2.4 with 4 gigs of ram

ok so i read some of the above comments

your MBP mouse freeze a little when airport is trying to connect to a network

do does mine

my question is:

is it supposed to happen? ( mouse freeze for around 1 - 2 seconds when airport connecting to a network? )

because there is no way a 2,4Ghz with 4 gigs of Ram can freeze even if its a little when airport is connecting to a network

unless if its supposed to be like that

Count me in on this whole shananigan,

I just droped 2 grand, got a mac book pro 2.2mhz 2gig ram yada yada.. ive been useing it for 3 weeks Perfect.. i could not have asked for anything better have have felt like it was a wonderful investment...

on the other hand.. just 2 days ago this laggy mouse action is happening.. and to be quite honest.. when its going on.. i just simply dont want to use the computer. just turns me right off....its pointless and extremely difficult to focus the courser on anything!

Being a dj and music producer, this is really putting a kink in my work.

I have Tiger installed and leopard waiting at my side.. by the sounds of it ill be holding off longer cause if this problem is worse on leopard.. my god

Why would the computer work fine for so long.. then out of no where just start funking out?

yah its that damn istat pro

yah the same thing happen to me. Istat pro has a bug in it that makes it suck. Just fully uninstall it, and the problems should vanish.
