Thanks, but...

I'm sure hoping this is wrong; would be criminal for the 13" MBP not to get the same screen resolution as the MBA: really think 1440x900 is only fair.

It seems a shame that Sony's mid-range 13.3 SB Series manages to get real graphics (Radeon HD 6470M) along with the same CPU i5-2410M.

March-May appears to be rather interesting.

The 6470M has just 160 stream processors and support for GDDR5, making it feel a bit anemic for such a premium line, but AMD has apparently introduced technology comparable to NVIDIA's Optimus that enables switching between the Sandy Bridge IGP and the dedicated AMD graphics. We hope to get a look at this in the near future.

Still new here....

Someone care to tell me why Apple doesn't offer 7200rpm drives out of the box, not even customized?

The minute I purchase one I'll have to open it up and swap it out.

I have a feeling Apple is going to use LightPeak as a reason if they keep the price range while having medicore specs. "New tech = more $$$"

I hope this is the spec of a very very very low priced macbook, but I want a high end 13" notebook. The resolution is crap, I hope we will get better news tomorrow otherwise I am going to buy a 13" vaio with Full Hd and 1.4 kg!!! I can live with win7 its not too bad.

They already have a very very very low priced macbook, it's called the MacBook Air

Yes and there will be people which accept this excuse.

Such a long waiting cycle and then we get useless "Thunderbolt"

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Core i5 on the 13"? I'm definitely getting one of these babies :p

i second this :D

Also consider this, Apple has more than likely tweaked the HD 3000 for performance.
Survey says, underclocking.

Not likely since it is onboard but we have experienced it in the past for discrete solutions. Not to mention Turbo Boost is partly based on cooling as well.

I'm not dispaointed in the slightest :), the sony has the HD 3000 as well of course.
Well I guess my point is there really isn't a point of adding a "dedicated" GPU of such horrible quality in that Sony Vaio hence why it's a Sony. I bought a 13" MBP once and never again :) The size is great but it just never has that same level of GPU performance as it's bigger siblings. If they could put a true dedicated GPU into the 13" MBP ala Alienware m11x, I would consider one.

lol @ the dreamers who thought apple would push out a crazy $1000 base notebook.

i only have $1000 but i expect:
-GPU that can handle ALL of my extreme gaming needs!
-SSD!
-HD SCREEN!
-AND MUCH MORE!

get real (or try dell). this is a low end 13 inch macbook. specs look fine. if you want better specs, be prepared to spend more money.

+1

This is EXACTLY What I would expect from the new Base 13" MBP.

Rumours until this AM were also saying it would be an i3 chip, not an i5. So count your blessings there ;)

Apple never puts out high-end stuff (7,200RPM, SSD, etc...) for the base-model. I bet there'll be options to add those on the higher-end models (just like how you can't get any higher than 1.6Ghz or 128GB SSD on the 11" MBA, even though there's a 256GB on the 13" MBA.

ok im a mac noob.
if this is infact the new macbook pro 13.3" specs, and going by peoples reactions on here it appears its not very good!
is this because you expected more or is it not that much better than the current mbp 13.3"
i would like to know got the MBP in my pocket but was waiting till this came out....
should i wait or is the new mbp......p00?

The Network Connector is next

look how thick the network connector is, compared with the others.

I won't be surprised if Apple moves this one behind the new Thuntherbolt-thing with a dongle.

It could make the Macbook Air almost iPad-thin.
