We are both in the same boat I bought mine two weeks ago Tuesday but went in on Tuesday to switch the printer for my rebate thus giving me till march 8th to swap the unit out. If I was you I would be getting your time machine on now and start zeroing out your unit in disk utility. I have mine running from an external drive right now so I can swap it first thing in the morning if they are available.

Best buy silver rewards member!! 45 day return policy even on apple products.

YAY
:D

OH BOB SAGET! WTF should I do?
Stop,

Breathe,

Think,

You're just fine with the setup you have. Really!

Enjoy it, there's no reason for buyers remorse.

Unless of course, you want to waste more time & money.. Then have at it.

well, I never had any hope for Liquid Metal.

But, if you want to hold onto hope... how's this for a theory: Apple shipped the 13" MacBook Pros to resellers. They certainly knew when they would arrive. Why just the 13? Did they hold back the 15", 17" on purpose? Is there more to reveal?

(I have no idea) We'll find out in 16 hours though. I expect everything is going to be announced first thing Thursday.

arn

This post just pumped me up!

sooooo

Is this hd3000 going to be 18% faster than 320m? I have a desktop "PC" that I can game on with its hd6850 and 8 gigs of ddr3 ram if I must.

Again Apple prevails. They've got everyone excited and whipped up over Thunderclap.

A technology that Intel has futzed with since 1999 and has gone nowhere. Too much must change to make the best use of it.

In addition it requires at least ten minutes of your time to Google it and verify for yourself. A task too daunting for most. After all why seek the truth?

Steves got everyone relying on him. They've shut off their own ability to think and bought into the hype 100%.

Flippin amazing ... Not the technology, but the control he has over people minds is truly "magical".

He's a brilliant guy. And he owns you. Proof? The Billions of dollars that you've given as a vote of confidence in his skill to convince.

Like so many other things the truth will take awhile to surface, but he will go down in history, as a master manipulator.

And in mere moments the narrow minded, unthinking, truth fearing haters will attack this post for all the wrong reasons.

Cheers

I think you're taking this a bit too seriously.

Do people realize that PRO applications (like final cut) are not compatible with intel graphics card ??Whats the point in paying 1500 for a laptop that you cant use with pro apps nor games ?

Please tell me there is a discrete graphics in one of the 13 inch model..

There's probably no way for a discrete graphics card to fit in a 13 inch unibody. Besides, the intel HD 3000 performance is somewhat similar to the integrated Nvidia one in the current 13" models. Personally, I'm not interested in a 13" model. That size simply requires too many technical compromises. Hopefully the 15" model comes with an SSD and a decent video card.

As for the LightPeak port; it's certainly interesting but only time will tell if it gains widespread adoption. I think the USB people probably barred intel/Apple from using the existing USB plug design and that's just sad; seeing as MDP wasn't that widely available outside of Apple products. But if this new standard really does take off; that could spell trouble for USB 3. I'm for more choices normally; but it's difficult to live in a world with more and more connection standards. I wouldn't volunteer to keep so many different types of cables. Would you?

I just hate that I bought the core 2 with 320m on the 8th of feb, now I dont know if I should pic up the "new" macbook pro or keep my new macbook pro?

All I do is surf and watch netflix and itunes thru osx, and play GTA4 and testdrive unlimited thru windows 7 (bootcamp).

OH BOB SAGET! WTF should I do?

Well, you're in a tough position if you want to actually keep the Mac. The Core i5 will be way faster than that Core 2. However, the GeForce 320M is better than Intel graphics. Even though some reviews say the performance is "similar", nvidia always updates drivers for the GPU that continue to improve performance. Intel's driver support is well known as the worst in the industry.

Then why is it that other manufacturers have similar systems with dedicated GPUs that put the larger screened MBPs to shame?

Also, the 320M is 2 years old now. Why is it okay for Apple to be releasing something thats slower than a very low end product from 2 years ago while charging more than other manufacturers that push out significantly faster products?

The Event We Didn't Realize!

It just hit me.

Why is there no Apple event for the new MacBook Pros?

Because Intel is having their own event for Thunderbolt. Apple will be the surprise guest star.

Reports are coming out that Thunderbolt is the INTEL branding for Light Peak, not Apple.
Watch out for it tomorrow. I'm betting a senior Apple exec will be at the Intel event, possibly Cook or Ive, or maybe even Steve Jobs himself!

You heard it here first!

Leo

lol I seriously hope you're trolling. This has been mentioned countless times since yesterday.

That's actually a good ascersion.

It'll certainly shut up those who think apple is abandoning the MBP because "teh iPadz!11! get an event y not MyBP :/ :( )

No, Aluminium is:

- More recyclable
- More scratch resistant
- Dissipate heat better
- More durable
- Does not lose colour over time

My friend dropped her white MB before, and boy it does not look pretty after that...

Dropping Aluminium MB might bent the body too, but it will be much more rigid than plastic. During normal use I don't think the colour will change after 5 years of use. Whereas the plastic one will be dirty after a few months.

Don't forget thinner and lighter. The current aluminum MBP 13" is thinner and lighter than the current white plastic MB 13".
And don't even get started with the MBA! That 11" form factor i think isn't even possible with plastic.

The specs of the new 13" MacBook Pro are similar to this Toshiba R700-S1320. But, the Toshiba is not Sandy Bridge.

$1300 still seems a little pricey to me but I guess that is the cost of machine considered to be in the"premium business" class of hardware.

Specs also similar to this Dell Latitude premium business class machine that, like the Toshiba, is not Sandy Bridge.

Dell Latitude is $1564. Definitely too much money for the spec if base 13" MacBook Pro priced same as this Dell.

Sony's (also not Sandy Bridge) premium business class offering with similar spec to the new 13" MacBook pro costs $1200. Still hoping this base model is priced lower than the Sony.

I think all of the competitors will be Sandy Bridge soon with prices similar to the outgoing models.

Wow. The HP EliteBook premium business laptop costs $1850 (but, comes standard with three year warranty). Dear God, if the base 13" MacBook Pro costs that much. That HP is the most expensive of the group!

You read the rumors in regards to Final Cut right? It was/is front page. It is due to be released soon, don't be so ignorant or one-minded.

The new Intel graphics processor that will be used in the 13" MBP didn't even exist when those requirements were made. It's referring to the old Intel GMA 950 and X3100 graphics.

We currently don't know if the HD 3000 will work will all the FCS apps.

If it's true that Apple will wait for Intel's ThunderBlow announcement, then my guess is that the Apple Store will go down around 5pm Sweden time and be updated around 8pm.

Darn it, to long to wait. I wonder if Apple streamline the launch a little bit, take down the store at the same time as the Intel announcement and when Intel is ready with its stuff *boom* Apple store is open, i wish :p
