Macbook Pro Startup Issues

Hi, bit of a Mac novice here but I'm hoping someone can help with this.

When I turn on my Macbook Pro it flashes a No Entry sign and then a Folder with a question mark in it. I've attached images.

After doing this for a while it just turns off.

Any idea how to resolve?

That usually means it's lost its system software. Did you do something, update, mess with anything?

Check out this page https://support.apple.com/en-hk/HT204156 as it'll be fairly in-depth for a novice. It'll take you through what to do. In short, re-instal MacOS.

Which MacBook do you have? Depending on the model #, it could be a bad hard drive cable or bad hard drive.
