A MBA won't be able to max out WoW. So he needs to get a 15" MBP with an ATI 6750m or ATI 6770m. ( or the ATI 7XXX when the 2012 MBP is released. )

The OP asked about 15" Air, and considering none of know the specs, or even if there's going to be one I don't think any of us could recommend that it won't work. My post referred to the base 15" MBP

You're getting a really nice discount; if I were you I'd spec the best 15" MBP I could afford!

I've got the 2.5GHz i7, 8GB RAM, and SSD; it's INSANE. It's my main machine, I play WoW/a bit of poker, but mostly I just need something that flies so I can work intensively on it (mostly in-browser stuff) without wanting to hurl it out of a window.

Current gen MBPs are so incredibly refined now. That's what won me over. Well, that and not being able to put up with my Rev A Air/2007 MBP anymore.

Wow? High-end 15 and 17 inch would be your only options. If you ask me, I'd suggest the 15-inch + High-res screen :D

BTW, When does the discount from work end? I'd wait for the new MacBook if the offer ends before this year. That's quite a lot of money!

Yeah i most likely get the 2.4ghz or the 2.2 ghz with normal sATA.
What is the difference between the ssd and normal memory?

Base Macbook Pro 15" can play WoW on Ultra (everything maximum settings, in Cataclysm, so including sunshafts and liquid detail) on a stable framerate of 28-30 fps; tested on a flying mount flying above Stormwind. Don't know about poker games, I assume it uses less horsepower, and I just don't know about PHP programming, how the performance will be there.
Just telling you the framerate on WoW, so it's up to you if you think that it's an acceptable famerate or not.
If you want to test it out yourself, copy your WoW folder onto a USB flash drive and go to your nearest friendly Macbook-selling store. Insert that USB flash drive into the Macbook Pro 15" in the store, and start playing WoW. Not raiding or questing, just flying around and such. If a salesmen asks, just tell him the truth, that's what I did. Tell him you're just testing out the Mac for a few minutes and depending on how well it behaves, you're going to buy this Mac or not. For me, that worked. :D
