Average consumer. Rene and Justine would hump Timmeh’s leg at the drop of a hat.
The more critical and compressive videos tend to drop another couple of weeks from today. It’s simply not possible to test the devices adequately and hope to still be able to churn out a review video during this short period of time.
I typically watch Dave2D and iJustine first. The only takeaway I got from the latter is that it churns through 8k raw footage like butter, but I couldn’t really make out what they were doing with the editing process. It was just a lot of “oohs and aahs”.
I do agree that with these videos so far, it seems like a lot of filler and very little actual useful content.
Oh wow, a parade of influencer videos designed to entice you to purchase the computers, not to show you the real usage data.
So much cringe in these videos I couldn’t finish the 2 I dipped into.

I have a 8TB M1 Max 16” with 64 GB ram Coming maxed out and that will be connected to 2 XDR displays That I have on my desk. So I will throughly be putting this through it’s paces. Just now getting the stuff I need for a channel, so it’ll be rough, but the content is what matters the most…

Also top marks to ijustine for the irritating open mouth fake surprised derp face thumbnail which every reviewer needs to flood your recommended video list as the SEO social scientists worked out that's the best eye catching clickbait thumbnail to use(!)
TL;DR
I'm more interested in Max Tech's review and benchmarks rather than a gloried advert disguised as an unboxing, maybe Timmy should prioritize actual tech pros allocation of early units rather than corporate friendly powerful Influencer's with high seo reach..
I wish the M1 pro 14” was included in this and not just the max.
Anyone “influenced” by these “influencers” must be on the low-end of the IQ spectrum.
And yes, the iJustine “oh my god, wow, it’s so shiny” and hair-flicking does my head in

I guess bias Linus techtips who jumped the shark in 2018 will review the laptop next year as he is a massive apple cynic (remember when he said the M1 would be a complete flop?) and only shills for the highest bidder.

Justine's was good, considering most reviewers apparently don't want to show us their Final Cut Pro workflow, or just use the competition. Genuinely she has a good barometer of what performance is.
Dave2D, MaxTech, MKBHD, and the underrated GregsGadgets. They are the reviewers who are worth watching IMO. Dave2D has a video out already and I’m sure the others will follow soon.
Not wanting to be that guy, but after seeing a couple of reviews ... Dave2D is still the most down-to-earth guy in all of these. Rene, which I used to follow and quite like, was massively fanboying on this review IMHO.
In the end ... great laptops, super powerful, CPUs are killer ... the notch is still the stupidest thing ever!

The reviews suck. They're all mostly the same, listing specs, talking about the notch, blah, blah. Show us you importing 500 RAW photos. Tons of video. Open resourse hungry apps, how fast does it load? Etc, etc. iJustine did the best job, a long video of her editor running 8K video and comparing it to other experiences.

I like Rene's stuff generally. This was OK as well but yeah he's clearly like the lot of them been told what to disclose and what not to at this early stage. All in all the video ends up being pretty short and not nearly enough in-depth.
I expect this to change. Oh so many MBP-reviews I'll be watching in the coming weeks. It'll be insane. And I won't even be getting one!

When Justine said it looks strange without the Touch Bar I thought that why not have both? Move the Touch Bar to be above the number keys and have it do more niche things. Would've made it more expensive for sure but the space between key top keys and the edge is pretty big. Big enough for a Touch Bar...
