Here’s a news flash: No company, including Apple, is going to give someone that MIGHT give their product a bad review a free trial. One or two nit-pick complaints might be allowed, but come up with a luke-warm or worse review and you can kiss early and free product access goodbye. This isn’t unique to Apple or even just computer/phone companies.

If you want a chance of seeing an unbiased review then you will have to wait until the product is available for general purchase. And that doesn’t guarantee an unbiased review it just means that the reviewer wasn’t influenced by getting early access. They can still be biased for or against a product.

The amount of salt here is amazing.

If you don't feel like you trust the opinion of the "reviewer" then don't watch their content. The embargo just lifted on those people who were given advanced hardware, what kind of "reviews" do you expect at this point?

Wait until the device is available for normal sale, wait for the review to come out from your favourite source, and base your decision on that.

Luke Miani is your man for that kind of thing. Real-world reviews, not Apple-shilling.
He just ordered like 14k worth of new macbook pro's lol. I just wish someone would hook up more then 1 monitor. I have 3 4k displays so I need to know can I hook up 2 via thunderbolt and one via HDMI? Or can you daisy chain monitors with one USB-c/TB-4?

Yeah I saw ... really enjoy his videos.

Drop a comment in his video about ordering all those MBs, he may pick it up and look into multiple monitors

The ones I’m looking forward to are The Everyday Dad and LTT. LTT because they’re not really Apple fans and TEdD because he’s not throwing benchmarks around and he is not enough of an Apple fanboy not to criticize things.

Luke Miani, too, as MrGimper said.
MobileTechReviews, too, while we’re at it.

When Justine said it looks strange without the Touch Bar I thought that why not have both? Move the Touch Bar to be above the number keys and have it do more niche things. Would've made it more expensive for sure but the space between key top keys and the edge is pretty big. Big enough for a Touch Bar...

I spent years trying to justify the touchbar since I had the 2017 MBP, but at the end of the day the workflow doesn't change. Sliding the volume control was cool but it's not a deal breaker. If anything it was just weird hitting F2 on a flat surface, and now the keyboard is full-size like the external magic keyboard which is what it should have been all along.

All of them only barely mentioned the keyboard. If they are not mechanical like Apple have said, are they the "same" as previous 2020 MacBook Pro Magic Keyboard. Or are there slight difference?

Ok, Apple, we'll do w/e you say for a free Macbook, lmao ???
[insert cheeseburger scene from the movie "Menace 2 Society" here]

I seriously detest YouTube Thumbnails…

God I hate these freebie-leeching YouTubers.
The whole thing has become sort of normalized… it’s always the same faces and very few of the venues which might just disappear one day in favor of a single front facing person.

Right? But one of the largest tech youtube channel, Linustechtips, has explicitly stated they HATE doing thumbnails like that. BUT, there is no arguing that when they do make the thumbnails that way, their views are higher. It's very black and white and they tested this themselves.
That’s insane…
I find it a bit hard to believe that by now, when everyone knows that the ‘surprised face finger pointing white outline’ thumbnails are themselves not honest, that the crowd would prefer these thumbnails in general? Not here on MR for sure.
It might just be that the videos that get pushed more are the ones that the algorithm detects as one that could work because of said thumbnail.
Imagine if in the 90s all your favorite rock bands CD covers all had the same dummy face pose and labels would refuse to release anything with a remotely different image cover.

Maybe it’s not that it works but that it’s forced to work.

I could only stomach two videos.
Are referring to “only two are worth it” (and which one would they be)?
If it was an endurance thing, that might be the record to beat. Can’t drag myself to start any.

Welcome to the high caste of internet Influencer's you get 5 start preferential treatment, first to get new devices before release so they have time to drop the Unboxing & First Impressions the second the embargo lifts, first name terms with the CEO, comped travel and accommodation to product reveals..

Also top marks to ijustine for the irritating open mouth fake surprised derp face thumbnail which every reviewer needs to flood your recommended video list as the SEO social scientists worked out that's the best eye catching clickbait thumbnail to use(!)

TL;DR

I'm more interested in Max Tech's review and benchmarks rather than a gloried advert disguised as an unboxing, maybe Timmy should prioritize actual tech pros allocation of early units rather than corporate friendly powerful Influencer's with high seo reach..

Seconding this, I really like this duo of brothers, it shows that they are trying hard, getting a wide range of hardware configurations with their own money, coming up with benchmarks, tests, etc to show. They go and watch a ton of WWDC videos to try to make something out of it, at least high level.
Sometimes they go clickbait-y titles but the videos aren’t annoying.

I hope they continue to get better and more professional. Also maybe some might be able to propose benchmark ideas, some of the ones there seem to be community driven, for example, the XCode compilation times test was from my understanding prepared by someone that follows them.
