Pray to god when you did it, you didn't try using it right after. I thought it was common knowledge that after you spill liquids on Macs, you turn it off and put it next to a heater for about 48 hours.
 
I do not know of a coffee drinker who does not enjoy a nice fresh cup while working on their MBP ... so the answers where people say it is as simple as not drinking while on your MBP ... for people like me that is just not an option.

I use a keyboard cover and still take extra caution.

Good Luck, the advice just above is very important, even if you had a small spill with a cover on.
