If the touchscreen rumors are true, can't wait (/s) to see how Apple will ruin the macOS UI even more by adding more padding to make it touchscreen compatible despite saying many times they weren't planning to do it!

I honestly don't care for OLED screens on computers as I don't want to baby the screen. Since Apple doesn't like giving options, if OLED MacBook Pro comes true, then I'm never going to get one anymore.

I can't imagine this just being a regular MacBook Pro but with a touch screen. macOS need a major overhaul to work with touch. But why would they do that when iPad OS is already optimized for touch?

Also, when would you need touch when you have a keyboard and trackpad right in front of you? Like what would you do with touch that you can't do better with the keyboard and mouse?

This would only make sense as a completely new form factor, like a laptop that can fold into a tablet. But the iPad already does that. Still the issue of macOS with a touch interface remains a huge question. Would it run iOS when folded and macOS when unfolded? I guess that could make sense.

I dunno. I can't see why this makes sense.

It’s funny if they decide to test this touch functionality on the Pro laptops. You know, the people who are least inclined to ever use or want it.

Not once have I wished I could interact with the OS by touching the screen. I rather wish I had a keyboard and a mouse in my hands while typing at the iPhone, and have the iPhone hover in space in front of me.

Dead Apple car
Worthless iOS 26
DOA ”Vision Pro” for $3500 with $0 trade in value after 2 years
”Apple Intelligence” is still nothing
Now they bring this gimmick no one askes for to the MBPs

I wonder what’s next.

Touchscreens on laptops have always been, and always will be, a stupid design decision. You already have a vastly-superior input solution built in – the 'problem' has already been solved. Whether you could disable it or not, it's inevitable that macOS gets worse just to support that garbage.

I hate the idea of a thinner and lighter design. The MacBook Pro is fine as it is. A thinner design will mean worse speakers and battery life. If you want thinner and lighter, get a MacBook Air.
What I actually want is a MacBook Air with a better screen (120hz, higher dpi, HDR). The odds of that are pretty low so a thinner OLED Pro seems like the closest thing.

It sounds like youre saying Apple couldn’t pull off something Microsoft did a decade ago. I reckon they could if they put their mind to it. They’d obviously have to get rid of the complex command sequences and surface everything in the gui, but that’s not as hard as they make it look.
Bold of you to say Microsoft pulled it off. Using windows with a touch screen is a nightmare I wouldn’t wish on anyone
