Does anyone have an idea of a good hard drive that I could replace my Macbook one with I have just orded it with a 80GB one and have customised it so carnt replace with any from apple store. I think about 160GB would be good, also do you think 7200RPM is much better than the standard? any thoughts and suggestions would be great thanks.

By the way I live in the UK for any buying suggestions. Thanks

Any 2.5" 9mm high SATA drive will do. Check out the reviews for the Western Digital Scorpio 250GB drive at www.dabs.co.uk, a huge favourite with MacBook owners. Also check out their external SATA USB drive case to turn your internal disk into an external one.

That's a good price - but when 320GB or 500GB start hitting the scene, that's when I will go up from 160GB.

What's the maximum the MacBook can go up to?

I don't think there is any limit. If they sell 2.5" terabyte hard disks in three or four years they should work without problems. The biggest at the moment is 320GB (brand new, not available in the UK yet); there are a few 300GB ones but they are 12mm high and won't fit.

Awesome. I am in no rush - I have a fair few MB free. Of course, the larger my internal - the larger my backup has to be too, so it's a double edged sword. With no handle. :D

I'm been running a 7200 RPM drive for a few days now. I don't notice a big difference in performance, however I haven't done any heavy photoshop work or anything like that yet.
