Hi. I have Macbook Pro 15 mid 2012 (i7,16GB RAM, gt650m 512MB, 512GB SSD+2TB HDD). I use macbook for videoediting (4K footage from Panasonic Lumix GH4 and DJI Phantom 4). Every day I bring macbook to school. I want to buy more lighter macbook with Retina display. I saw some videos on YouTube and found that Macbook 12 (m5,8GB,512GB SSD) can handle video editing. Do you think that macbook 12 will be significantly slower in 4K video exporting in FCPX? I daily use Photoshop CC2019 for editing RAW photos (CR2 - eos 5d mark iii). Thanks a lot for response. Which exact CPU do you have? There are a lot of i7 versions from 2012.

But yes, the 2015 12” MacBook will be significantly slower. That model also has a terrible keyboard, and half the amount of RAM.

If you are going to be importing 4K HEVC, the models to get are 2017 or later. Perhaps a quad core i5 13” MacBook Pro.
