First of all i got a macbook about a year old 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo
Now what the problem is that the right side of the the built in audio jack does not work.

I have tried multiple pairs of headphones and have checked the balance to no avail.

The output stopped working after i connected the output to the input of a mixing console ( aka sound board) that had the phantom power on one of the channels connected to it.

the right does not work at all then after the volume is past 3/4 of the way up it starts to produce static that come on and off like a bad connection.

the built in speakers work fine both left and right so i hoping just the physical jack is toast.

can i just replace the sound card?
or should i just take it in to be repaired

If your audio board has a optical (TOSLINK) digital input, you could use that. I would bet it's still operational.

Of course, that doesn't help the headphone issue.
