Awesome.. Thanks so much for all that info..

I have ONE other little question.. NOW i am talking about my Macbook Pro 2.16Ghz intel Duo..

When i search for that particular computer's acceptable memory (click here to see what i'm talking about) it only shows 1GB and lower individual cards.. no 2Gb.. BUT there is a 2GB card under the 15" macbook pro 2.16Ghz (same cpu, different monitor size)

SO i just got confused again.

That's because the Early 2006/Core Duo MacBooks and MacBook Pros only take a maximum of 2GB of RAM. The Late 2006/Core2Duos could take 3.3GB, and the newer ones 4GB... but 2GB if the max you can put in your computer and have it recognize.

This ia absolutely correct. If you have the Core Duo as opposed to Core 2 Duo, then you're in the same boat I'm in and are limited to 2GB total RAM.
Hey but look at it this way. It was on the cutting edge of being the first 17' Mac NoteBook with the Intel chip. I love my WhiteBook and wouldn't trade it for the world. Runs great. :)

ohh nope. I have the Core 2 Duo.. Macbook Pro.. So you are saying that one can only take 3.3??

You have a mismatch on your posts. Try again. Also, you may want to switch over to the MacBook Pro discussions.

There is no 17" MacBook Pro with a 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo Processor. There's a 15" with those specs, and the 17" CoreDuo (Early 2006), but the C2D 17" from late 2006 was 2.33GHz.

If you have that machine, I believe you can install 4GB but the system will only use 3.3GB.
