Yes I read your post and YOU say the ACD is the worst display out today. I don't feel that way and there are lots of other people out there who would agree with me.
Not very many. Again, look at the specs. The ACD contrast ratio is an average of about 1/3 lower than similar sized monitors that cost half as much. When compared to an LCD TV, the contrast ratio is less than half of the average LCD TV. The response time? The response time is an average of 3 times slower than a modern LCD screen and more than twice as slow as the average LCD TV. The brightness is about the same, but that doesn't matter when your blacks look grey and everything is ghosting.
Why do you think that even those who depend on Apple computers for a living won't touch the Apple Cinema Displays? Because the image quality is bad and the response is too slow.
Every time I've seen an Apple Cinema Display the first thing I notice is the ghosting. Everything leaves a trail. When you watch a video this makes for people's faces looking "smudgy" and on long panning camera shots, everything looks blurred and washed out because of the ghosting.
Tonight, I was watching a DVD on my ACD via my iMac and was amazed at the quality of the colors and sharp images. Movies and internet are basically what I use my computers for. I am happy with it and I think it is an excellent display.
No offense, but as the saying goes.. "ignorance is bliss". Get yourself a GOOD LCD display, Vista, and a copy of PowerDVD 8 to run on a system with a dedicated GPU like your iMac or MBP. You're going to wonder how Apple can get away with selling the ACDs and how they can even call "DVD Player" an application when its really more of a joke when it comes to both image and sound quality.
Compared to the vaio tx with Vista, well, this mac is so fast! I wish I tried MacOS earlier! I'm going to sell the other PC straight away...out of the box, in less than 5 minutes (not joking) I was surfing (wifi). I remember when I got the vaio with Vista it took me the whole evening to make it work (problems with the drivers...)
Thats Sony's quality control for you
In one sentence, I'm extremely satisfied with the little Apple, it's awesome. Now I understand what mac users mean when they praise their stuff...totally deserved!
While some of us want to sell ours
Getting back on topic, for those with "perfect" Macbook screens again - does this mean when you view a full screen of black, that the screen is actually consistently black? That is, the bottom half of the screen isn't significantly lighter than the top?
Mines black.
