heres a couple of pics, sorry about the quality.
On the left there is a macbook and attached to that there is a dell 2408wfp, its a PVA panel instead of the TN that most screens use. PVA isnt quite as good as IPS but its damn close.
in that photo you can see the difference in colours. camera didnt pick it up well but the macbook screen displayed the pink as being quite purple.
This shows the contrast ratio of the macbook screen is about 2:1. It looks worse with that camera than what it actually is. Both those screens are on max brightness displaying a black image (actually the very start of a movie being played in VLC). The macbook screen is shocking for displaying blacks.
The colour thing isnt a major, i didnt even realise until i had a good screen attached. The 2:1 contrast ratio isnt so ignorable when watching movies as it makes dark scenes look absolutely shocking and you are constantly adjusting the screen. Its fine for bright scenes though.
EDIT: just a note, they are artifacts in the picture, not bright pixels on the dell monitor
