Why do some think the next one will have another port? Unless they remove the headphone jack there's no room for it. The single port on the current model starts right after the keyboard ends, I assume there can't be a port in that area because it's so thing. Plus there's no way they're putting a port on the back hinge section as that's ugly.

funny, they found plenty of place for ports in gen 2 of MBA

Thumbs up so far for me.

  • Portability is very much appreciated
  • Don't need to carry around a bulky adaptor
  • Easy to charge ANYWHERE. Get a USB-C to USB-A Adaptor for $10
  • At first I thought lack of ports is going to be a big deal, it's really not

Seriously - if I needed ports galore and lots of processing power then this would not be for me. However, I needed a secondary device to take on the go as I travel a lot and this fits the bill.

My main uses are Outlook, Power Point SalesForce (web based CRM), Microsoft Lync, Twitter, Facebook, Evernote, Chrome, and Parallels for Internet Explorer specific websites. This handles ALL of these applications running at the same time without any issues even on the 1.1/256 base model. If I can manage 60 employees with this thing on the go, then most people should be able to watch cat videos all day no problem.

Macbook Pro stays at home connected to a 30-inch monitor :)

Comments like these make zero sense to me.

The WHOLE point of the machine is portability above all else, if you don't value this then the machine was never made for you.

You're criticizing an ultraportable for doing exactly what it was meant for... being ultraportable. Get a MBP.

We both have our own opinions and that is the purpose of this forum. I do not understand why you feel I am attacking your purchase. The new MB gives more choices and choices are good.

There is an Apple laptop for every user. Apple is not forcing anyone to do anything. I like that Apple "insists" on pushing the edge of design. Had my share of computers where the driving forces behind the engineering was cost, cost, and cost. I spend way too much time on a computer, and life is too short, to use crap.

Today, this moment, as I sit here typing, a big thumbs up for the rMB for the computing context for which its designed. Many are right when they say future models will have a faster processor or more battery life, etc., but until then I get to use this machine and enjoy it for what it is right now.

What is that worth? Depends entirely on the individual.

I agree 100%.

Each user has got to decide what is important and make your choices from there. Enjoy you new MB.

Note that I said it was thumbs down "for me"! Am I mistaken or did I not read the OP wanted BOTH opinions?

Still waiting to get my thumbs on mine. Ordered April 21st, still shows pending (ordered April 21st, gold 1.2/512). Definitely a thumbs down on the launch and lack of available product. I kind of wish I'd placed my order on April 10th after midnight when I was looking, but as a pragmatic individual I couldn't justify blindly ordering it without trying it out. After playing a few times in the store and heavily load testing it, I'm anticipating those thumbs will pointed upward.
