MacDailyNews republishes an unconfirmed rumor submission about what Apple might be up to for later this year.
Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion's haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at "low" price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick ****. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest.
MacDailyNews provides no particular confidence in the rumor, and it reads as simply a laundry list of rumored items over the past year. That being said, there have been ongoing rumors that Apple will launch a Mac tablet at some point in the future.

Personally, I do not see Apple releasing any true (size-wise) tablet. It just doesn't seem to me to be all that Apple-like. I see Apple's touchscreen mobile platform sticking primarily to the iPhone and iPod touch, nothing more than that.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5A347 Safari/525.20)

Doubtful there will be any new MacBooks or MBPs before the Sept. promotion ends.

there is no need for devise between macbooks and iphone, and apple are not going to make a whole new sdk for this devise that would be no more successful than the failed umpc's. But we will still here this rumor after every apple statement and before every apple event

I doubt they would get half of that in a device. Especially with a SuperDrive. If they put an optical drive in it, I'll never buy something with that much wasted space inside.

Phht. Apple shouldn't make a phone. How could they possibly improve on it?

They should just stick to making computers.

Apple should make phones.. or phone. Even if they can only fix the bugs in iPhone, that would be fine improvements for me. Personally, I like the iPhone enough that I'm not looking for major improvements. Especially with the introduction of the App Store.

I was being facetious. I think it was fantastic of them to build the iPhone. But every time we hear hints of a new product category from apple. We get the inevitable moaners and groaners that say things like "apple should update the macbook!" "apple should upgrade the video card of the macbook pro before making any new products"

blah blah etc.

Apple can chew gum and ship new products at the same time. Despite the cries of posters that have not built a doghouse let alone a personal computer or a phone.
