The funniest thing is, that many macrumors from way back to at least MWSF this year could do a better spiel about what Apple has in store.

If i'm not mistaken, the mbp (15" and 17") has an accelerometer.....
(that's why you get fun apps like 'i alert u')
I think that's the hard drive Sudden Motion Sensor.

I'm not surprised.

I'd be happier with a new MacBook instead.
Me too. :) A tablet isn't hardly practical for school at all.
Me three. I'd rather have a cheaper regular laptop and a mini-tablet that I can run iLife and iWork on. That mini-tablet would also double up as my iPod.

interesting idea..something between a MBA and Iphone...but what happens if you have those already, a 3rd thing to carry around?
This device is probably for those without either device.

A Macbook Touch already exists... as a tablet!

I've seen this product several times but I don't understand it.

If Apple is suing other companies for making cheaper 'macs' with PC parts which have OS X on them, what's the difference between those and this?

And would anyone actually buy or trust this? (It probably weighs a ton) I don't really see the point of it.

"slot-loading Superdrive" and "Accelerometer" in the same device won't play well together. Try violently shaking your MacBook while playing a DVD and see what happens. :)

New MacBook Pros on the 29th, please, for me.

Agreed. How about Apple unveil their new Mac Book PRO and keep up the somewhat solid work they have been doing for the PRO market.

I think most consumers are happy with just the iPhone and MacBook, and not another expensive piece of TOY hardware that people will try desperately to fit into their lives.

Agreed, they have been getting quite lame these past few years. It's customary to rehash old rumors with a fresh spin now.

And how long have we been waiting for a tablet Mac? And the guy that leaked it of course only has word of mouth information.

I sincerely doubt that Apple is pursuing a tablet.

In a notebook form factor, there is still no better primary input method than a keyboard. A touchscreen may supplant, or compliment a mouse, but the physical keyboard is still the most efficient input method for varied data on a device larger than the width of your hand.

That's why I keep advocating a mini-tablet. It just seems more... right. :)

People like multi-touch and they like the user experience of holding something in their hand like a touch or iphone to surf the web or read articles. It makes sense for Apple to expand on this with something a little more practical in size for reading. I like the idea of it having GPS and accelerometer too. I just wonder if it will have internet capability beyond WiFi.

I doubt the Apps Store compatibility part though since this device will almost certainly use a different type or processor (Intel/Atom).

This would be so sweet. I really hope we get some new type of device coming later this year instead of just a basic refresh.

There are a million and one possible uses for something like a MacBook done like a iPhone (like that picture someone posted earlier in this thread). Thin, light, full 12" touch screen, long battery life, wifi and no optical drive.

At home you could use it for; reading a book, remote control for all media with full TV guides, for recipes when cooking, games and lots more. Add a dock to it so you can use it on a desktop with a keyboard and mouse. Business would love it as well.

Personally I'd want it most to use as a controller for music apps, I'm sure plenty of other apps could make use of it in new and useful ways as well.

The future of the app store is really interesting - I can see it quickly being rolled out to Mac's, Apple TV and other products in the pipeline. We love it as its a nice, simple and cheap way of buying apps, software houses love it as they get a huge market and low distribution overheads and Apple love it as it sells more devices and they get a cut of the sales.

PA Semi.

[awesome uses]
I'd really like one. I just don't want what the rumor seems to imply. A MacBook-sized device with a multi-touch screen and Mac OS X with an add-on iPhone OS.

I don't think a macbook tablet will be introduced. It just seems out of line on apples current products. I would love it though

Most people are convinced they need it for the cool factor, or the trendy fad factor, not the practicality one.

Sure, we can all find reasons in our lives to need one, or any other device for that matter, but with the way Apple sacrifices functionality for form and skimps on features I think the iTablet won't fit.

There is already the Air for the light traveler, and the iPhone serves plenty of fanboy/girl needs for on-the-move internet, so where would a 12" tablet fit? And what about that price?

The Modbook is expensive because they purchase the Mac Books direct, then modify them. I am sure Apple would charge us close to $1000 for a tablet or ultramobile PC, another expensive toy many don't really need.

I would much rather Apple work on improving what they currently have since ALL their hardware could use some major internal overhaul, much like what Snow Leopard will do, instead of producing new toys for the trendy masses.
