Waiting to see this MacBook. Think the 14" will be priced same as the current 16" Pro and the 16" will be $500 more. Will be good if there is cellular connectivity option too.

To me, the oddest part about this would be adding this functionality in the “pro/high-end” devices where one would possibly expect less day to day usage. I could see this being more of a core selling point feature of an Air/Neo device but not the higher end lineup.

I mean, I completely agree here. If Jobs were still around, I'd say he would want to make it make sense—not just be a laptop with a touchscreen. He'd want something that was truly going to merge the laptop and the tablet into a device that served both users equally. Unless Ternus is using this as his big moment leaving hardware and becoming CEO, I somehow doubt that's what we're looking at. In which case, why not add touch to a Neo and make it even more attractive to schools? It's not like the technology is all that expensive.

this is the mac laptop that NOBODY will be able to afford since the price will be yet EVEN higher than they originally planned because of AI depletion of RAM and storage (or collusion, whatever)

I would be interested if this MacBook would have been designed for touchscreen with a different form function (removable keyboard, screen that can be angled, pencil ultra …) to be just more than a simple touch screen on a laptop but a proper creative tablet, the Apple displays should be the same … but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen this time …

I would be happy with a cellular connection option. OLED display. No touchscreen as the trackpad is already amazing. And removal of the notch to something under screen.

I'm in the UK and when they increased the prices on their website I immediately went and bought a still discounted M5 Pro 48GB one from John Lewis which had it roughly around previous edu pricing before their increase. I initially tried KRCS (the biggest UK apple authorised reseller) which had it even lower but they refused to honour the old pricing.

I wasn't planning to make the purchase because I was waiting for an M6 Pro refresh on the OLED one, however now seeing that they aren't actually going to upgrade the CPUs, I think I made the right choice.

For context, I upgrade my laptop every 6-7 years and I was on the 2020 intel macbook pro.

Do you real need OLED and useless touchscreen?)))

Ohh what colors, black is black and my fingering))) Olala

If I show 2 properly calibrated devices one OLED and one mini LED, you will never tell the difference

My only hope is that there will be a "non touchscreen" OLED version and not, as I imagine Apple will do, reserve the OLED only to the touchscreen version, at least for the first couple of iterations.

I don't think Apple will go for a touchscreen
Supply chain leaks confirm that Apple and Samsung has been developing, and are now making, a touchscreen for the upcoming Macbook Ultra. Beta developers have been finding code in macOS Golden Gate that will be used to implement touchscreen gestures. So it's pretty well established at this point. Apple won't market it as a "touch-first" device like an iPad, but rather as "touch-friendly", though we have yet to see Apple's full definition of what they mean by that.

You do realize there are a few people who have more purchasing power than you and I? If someone can afford a Vision Pro, they're likely going to be able to afford the Macbook Ultra, though I suspect that the sales figures for the Macbook Ultra will be a lot better than for the Vision Pro.

A good quality OLED mops the floor with current screen tech Apple is using so yes I can't wait for an OLED MacBook Pro however pricing WILL BE shocking I am afraid.

All I need to know is it’s going to cost way too much. Hope this memory pricing thing stops soon or Apple is going to loose out on some sales.

I used to question what sort of problem this machine solved. Yet using an iPad Pro for 5 years and then going back to son's Macbook I was annoyed at how clunky it was using a touchpad compared to just directly pressing the screen. I still think the iPad is more intuitive for imaging and graphics but a touchscreen Macbook would be handy.

I’ve never owned a laptop with a touchscreen, only tablets. Seems awkward.
They are.

My work laptop is touch screen. The ONLY time the touch screen feature gets used is when I get a phone call (VoIP) and the actual app is buried behind 20 other apps, the mouse is on the second screen, and the 'answer now' pop up box comes up on the laptop only.

Other than that its pointless.

The tech cost 0.03 cents, thats super expensive...according to Apple.
