The bezel is all black .. Woz has some sort of film or screen over the LED screen.

No, it's a silver bezel, Woz paid the extra $50 for a BTO model with a matte screen vs the glossy glass one.
2nd it's an LCD screen with LED backlighting, not an LED screen.

I want a new MBP, but I really would want it to come with Snow Leopard. That'd be perfect :)

Yes it would! Is this likely? I would like to buy a MB or maybe MBA, and I am waiting for precisely this reason. Also, would buying an MBA with the current 2GB of RAM be limiting with Snow Leopard? Will it need more?

It's not a case of is it likely, more when is it going to happen. My guess is Sept or Oct.

Snowy would also NOT be limited by 2GB of RAM. In fact, it should in theory be limited less compared to Leopard as it seems most apps and the OS are meant to be less resource hungry. However, I expect the next MBA would have at least an option for 4 GBs RAM if you wanted it.

Thanks Blizzard. I will wait and see what turns up at WWDC. I have to pretty much buy a computer before the end of July to use up my research budget this year, so I hope an MBA with a 4GB option is on the cards! But given what you said, it shouldn't be too much of an issue if that option doesn't appear.

Hi, one of the bigger complaints i am hearing about the UMB is that the screen quality is significantly worse than that of the other models. As a potential buyer is it likely that the screens will be one of the aspects updated in the next refresh???

Does Woz actually have to pay for his Macs? I would think he'd get them for free. :D

Why's it so hideous? Would it have killed Apple to make the bezel all black?

Notice how they don't even show it on their own website...

Ya, I don't like it either. I like the glossy glass screen, it pops really nice and looks very sharp.

People at school that have the old MacBook Pros look at mine and say WOW when they see the screen!

P.S. Ya they should have made the matte bezel black too.

Not just the looks, but the screen's sturdier for the glass in the glossy version. I didn't realised an anti-glare version would require such changes to the actual machine's design.

I'll take the matte display only if they do a better job with the cosmetics. The black bezel is an integral part of the overall UMBP design... the matte UMBP 17" looks broken, like a car that lost the front bumper or something. Like Apple wanted to punish customers for having the audacity to question their decision to go glossy. "What's that, you don't like our hamburgers? Oh, vegetarian are we? Fine, chew on this cactus then."

:D :D

You really have an excellent sense of humor that I can relate to, even if I don't always agree with what you say.

Aperture 3 would definitely be nice. I may actually put off my pending switch to Lightroom for a couple months to see what happens with this.

I know what you mean. I've been an Aperture user since day one of v1.0, and lately I've gotten so frustrated by it. Came back from an extended shoot in Mexico, and to import about 160GB of images from my 5DmkII it crashed 20 or 30 times. I deleted the project after the first couple of crashes and tried reimporting, and even rebuilt the library twice. I just DREAD whenever I have to launch the program and actually try to do some work in it...

My main concern with starting over from scratch (I have about 80,000 refernced images) is that Lightroom might not be any better. My machine is high-end and pretty tricked out, but Aperture 2.1 still runs poorly on it.

Hey, I was planning to buy a base model MacBook aluminum in mid-may, but I was wondering if I should wait until wwdc in case they get a spec bump/price drop. Would that be likely? I mean, I was planning to buy it refurbished off of Apple's online store, so of the MacBooks were to be refreshed or updated, how kong do you think it's be until they show up in the refurbished section of the store? Thanks in advance.

If there is I think it'll be about .13-.2 Ghz

hardly anything major.

I'm waiting more due to price drop or just because I can for another 2 months.

The longer battery life is a good thing, not the non-replaceable aspect. That's the trade-off.

I am sure there would be a way to replace it. I don't think it would be part of the logic board.

I ordered MBP 17" custom config at late January, and don't get it yet! It will be shipped to me somewhere in the middle of May. Resellers told me that was Apple's pending. I don't believe that they will update MBP product line, because they didn't ship previous yet! And what do you think?

I'd get a refund, sounds like they're messing you around to me.

They offered me a refund, but I decided to wait. I don't want to order notebook in other country -- it will be much more problems for me. I live outside USA, and Apple don't care much about other countries.

Where do you live? I don't know if it's of any help, but APple have recently started shipping to more countries: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/campaigns/cross_border

Russia, Moscow. There are no Apple Stores there at all, only resellers. And very high prices -- I payed 6K$ for custom config in January and now should wait so long :( I even tried to contact Apple -- nothing results :( But it's an offtopic in this theme, I just mean that I don't believe that Apple will present new MBP models.

I am really looking forward even if there is a minor bump at this years WWDC - can't wait! Buying a MacBook in August / September, it will make my day if there is an update!
