A quad 1.8 - 2.0 on a Macbook or 15inch Macbook pro would make my dream laptop and i would be willing to pay handsomely for such power.

Would like a 13/15 inch, quad core, 8GB ram, and a good Mobile Ati, or a Nvidia Quadro.
I would like this too (besides the Quadro).

Yes, it's confirmed they will update the MacBook Pro. It will come with a faster processor, 8 Gigs of RAM and be $500 cheaper.

I can confirm this because I just bought the MacBook Pro this past Saturday...so naturally they'll have a faster, better decked out and cheaper one coming out.

:D

:(

it won't be cheaper. :)

and matte option? maybe I will end up buying an Apple again.

Seriously, Apple needs to step up to SONY

I know Apple is the leader in design and software and all... BUT my SONY Vaio from 3 years ago had ATT 3G connectivity (FYI for those of you asking for it - not that I ever needed or used it).

The newest SONY laptops have BLU-RAY, SATA and HDMI
There is no reason why Apple can not put these same features into their machines (which cost 2-3X the price).

The new 15" should include the new non-removable battery, higher screen res (even as a paid option, 160ppi 1920 x 1080) HDMI output, SATA & BLU-RAY.

I'm looking forward to Aperture 3 with Face Recognition and other iPhoto features.

Always check out the Mac Buyer's Guide before you buy, if you're worried about getting screwed.

Nah. If you want all the sony things they offer, I say go get a Sony.

as long as they continue to ADD things to their upgrades instead of the less is more attitude we've been seeing.

This sound just like buzzword soup. Do you really need these things?

At this point most consumers don't care about Blu-Ray, and IMO its just extra cost if Apple included it. Maybe in a year or two when its cheapers/smaller/more popular. It's hardly like Blu-Ray is common on most PC's yet either.

I have no idea what you mean by SATA. Do you mean eSata? MacBooks and MacBook Pro's already use internal SATA connectors...

Why do you need HDMI when MiniDP can output to HDMI with an adaptor? Displayport and MiniDP are the future of PC display connectors IMO. No need to to backwards with HDMI.

FORGET SMALL UPDATES TO MB/MBP, APPLE. YOU NEED TO UPDATE YOUR DISPLAYS!!!!! YOU NEED TO FIX THE MINI-DISPLAY PORT TO DUAL-LINK DVI ADAPTER!!!! THESE ARE MAJOR ISSUES!!!!

Then launch a netbook w/an embedded 3G modem w/the 3G modem available in the MBs and MBPs.

That is all.

I STRONGLY AGREE with you... The reason my 30" monitors are not being used is because every damn adapter is giving me problems..

And what's with the $100 price tag just for an adapter???

I actually believe alot of us want Blu-Ray in their Macs... hence different people speaking up on it.

also.... alot of us want HDMI compatibility for Mac's and laptops. yes you can get an adapter... but it is pretty neat to be able to plot your laptop down in your hotel room and just plug an hdmi cable in and watch an HDTV movie on Blu-Ray on your tv. in full 1080p glory!!

as for Esata many people like it for its faster than USB speed, but for me, i still like Firewire 800 and dont need to buy more cables.

They WENT BACK TO AGERE on the MBPs??? Is that true? That's a dealbreaker so I really need to cancel my MBP plans if it's true. I've tried using Agere for audio work a couple of times, and it was about as pleasant as keeping a cheese grater in your shorts.

Yep that's what I heard, I don't think it affects all audio interfaces, so it's always worthwhile letting someone else do a bit of beta testing first.

Also if you get a expresscard firewire card with a TI chipset it ain't gonna work too well from what I heard on these and other forums, unless you boot it in windows, then they work fine

For the price one pays the MBPs should not have these issues, but there's always the next rev (Powerbook G5 anyone?)

I don't see any major update happening, but I'm waiting since I don't need a portable now, but will from June.

but I think June is highly likely given that,

1) It's on the 8 months updating schedule (Oct 08 last time)
2) VERY minor speed bump in March, silent one at that
3) Intel plans to release new Penryns / lowering price

Saying that, if it's announced on June, when would it actually start shipping?

can they please make a docking station connector? why do i have to plug in a gizillion ports on the left side everytime i get home?! yes, i am that lazy. ;)

or release a 13.3 macbook pro, or an external battery pack to plug into the mag port.

HIGHER PPI ON THE MACBOOK PRO 15" PLEASE!

That's the only reason I haven't picked one up yet. The Macbook Pro's 17" display blows the 13" and 15" away.

A 15" with 1680x1050 would save me a lot of money as I wouldn't have to buy an ACD straight away or a 17" MBP. 1920x1200 would just be eye-poppingly bad on a 15.4" though. Also on the topic of Blu-Ray, I think it should only be an option should Apple choose to use it. I have no need for a pricier optical drive.

BTW, what with everyone posting in large fonts and all caps. It's annoying.
