Sorry, but the Macbook that appeared in the Apple hierarchy menu the other day leaves me convinced it is going to be announced and orders will taken very very soon. Tuesday. Maybe Wednesday. Not the 19th. This mistake at Apple would not have happened so far before the release.

It also unfortunately seals the deal that it will be called a MacBook.

Someone start hyping May 19th at the NYC Store opening already.

For what it's worth

I was just called by Apple sales person, following up on an order. I asked when? He said he couldn't tell me, and did not know, but did say that on the 16th there will be announced a major product.....And he said my guess about what that might be was the same as his guess.....

I'll be just a disapointed as the next guy if no new iBooks, MacBooks or whatever Apple intends to call them, are announced tomorrow. I'd like to retire my 1GHZ Tibook. I love Macs too. I've spent the past 4 years servicing Mac desktops & portables for an authorized Apple dealer. I too, routinely scour the rumor sites to see what next big product, Apple will release but I think many Mac users are on the verge of becoming as annoying as Star Trek Trekkies. Relax people, it's just a freakin' computer. Go talk to your kids, go for a walk in the park, for heaven's sake go get laid. Maybe after you've done all of those things, you'll log on to Macrumors, AppleInsider or Think Secret and you find out Apple has announced it's latest & greatest product.

well, lets hope so.. and lets also hope for a price decrease !:D I cant wait to save up enough $$$ for either an intel ibook or a referb. g4 ibook...

well, I went to the apple store with the intention to buy another ibook and the salesman suggested I buy online (because they didn't couldnt do the hard drive updated I wanted) .. Anyway the thing is he said " good thing about ordering online is that you know how apple all of a sudden updates and has new products like the macpro.. well if it happens while your order is in process they will automatically update your ibook" .. hmm i dunno but I really hope that was a hint that they're coming soon !!

I hope Apple doesn't screw up their displays if they use a 1280x800 resolution. I was using a MacBook Pro at the Apple Store and when I changed the resolution to 1024x768, it stretched the screen instead of putting a black border around the screen. Dumb move! Not only does the screen look like crap, the output to a projector will look like crap too. Not pretty if you're trying to impress a client. :(

I hope they do what the Sony 13.3 in widescreen notebook does - put black borders around the screen in the non-1280x800 screens. When displayed on a projector, the screen will look sharp and crisp instead of "soft" due to the stretching.

I hope Apple realises that people will be using the MacBook for presentations. I happily use my 12" iBook with its native 1024x768 display which matches my projector. I'd like to continue using my projector in its native resolution in a potential new MacBook.

You do realise it's outputting at the resolution required by the projecter (1024x768) so it would be fine - how it looks on the screen in the MBP wouldn't matter when you're using external monitors. It's only stretched on the MBP because the display is obviously capable of much higher (and widescreen) resolutions. When it comes to outputting the display whatever you're outputting the display to will decide the dimensions of the final image.

I mean, duh!
