can't find it for some reason?
That CoreType.bundle looks like a file instead of a folder, which might be tripping you up.

Easiest way is to go to the Finder > Go menu > Go to Folder... (or just hit ⌘⇧G) and paste in this file path exactly:

/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/

which will open the directory.

The change does no real good but also no real bad. It's an incredibly minor change that is suitable for a whim. People will spend at most two seconds going 'hmmm' then move on and forget it.
Actually, changing something can increase confusion and hamper muscle memory. If they're going to replace it, clarity and communication should be their number one priority

Exactly. Plus the size of the UI elements is just wrong. It looks like you are running the display at a lower resolution, it’s like using a Fischer price computer.
I honestly don’t know what’s going on at Apple, they can’t even do design anymore.
But unfortunately until people keep buying iPhones and they get revenue growth year over year, they won’t get the wake up call they need.
I tend to agree with you - i haven't seen much worth upgrading... and I've upgraded every OS as quickly as possible since 1992.

In this age of Spotlight searches, sidebars and shortcuts it probably doesn't matter much what the internal drive icon looks like or what it's called.

Does Windows still have a C-drive due to the second floppy drive hardly anyone actually had?

You can open Get Info and paste in your own icons for anything. That may even have been in System 7, but it's been in OS X and now macOS all along.

Like others I can confirm it was in classic Mac OS too, though I seem to recall that at least for a time in OS X you couldn't customise the system icons, only folders. You needed a third-party tool like Candybar.
