Zip tools 4.2 and that extension do pre date the 250.

Try using a 100 disk. The drive should not be the issue just the size of the disk. I use a 250 drive but only 100 myself just for that reason.

Have you tried installing "System Update 3.0" for 7.1 over your system? I think it updates to SCSI Manager 4.3 (a system resource you don't see).

I haven't myself, no, and I've no clue if it was done before it came into my possession; I'll definitely give it a go, though.

When I try to install the update it says it 'couldn't find an installer document and can't run without one'. :/

Have a look on the floppy, there should be a file called "Install System Update". Double click that instead.

If that doesn't work, try rebuilding the desktop on the floppy. Hold down "Apple" & "Option" when inserting the disk.
