We dislike it as much as anyone else. If somebody could share with us a screenshot while the ad is displayed at MacRumors, and the URL it links to (you don't have to click it, just copy the URL), that would let us work with the ad service to block it. Thanks.
Ive had adblock on for so long forgot what ads look like, but i do recall seeing mac keeper ads on macrumors a while ago

I noticed a banner for MacKeeper again today while visiting the forums on an old 12" PowerBook G4, as well as a Mac cleaner "Optimized for Mac OS 10.5". Somehow I doubt that, obviously coded to display whatever version number is in your user agent...

OK.... we all know Mackeeper is closer to malware than anything to help a Mac user....

SO WHY THE HELL IS IT IN MULTIPLE ADVERT SLOTS ON AN APPLE SITE.....

looks like the people running this site care so little about their audience they aren't properly vetting what's promoted here....

Agreed, Mackeeper is a complete and utter menace and - if at all possible - should not be given banner room anywhere, least of all a site - or forum - intended as a space where Mac products are discussed.

Tired of getting MacKeeper adverts? Block it in the first place. Copy and paste these lines to your hosts file with the use of the free Gas Mask:
0.0.0.0 zeobit.com
0.0.0.0 mackeeper.zeobit.com
0.0.0.0 mackeeperapp2.kromtech.net
0.0.0.0 mackeeperapp2.mackeeper.com
0.0.0.0 mackeeperapp2.zeobit.com
0.0.0.0 mackeeperapp.mackeeper.com

Gasmask is awesome.

It also sneaks into other innocuous-sounding app downloads, too; someone on another forum recently experienced that when he downloaded what he thought was going to be a media player program of some sort and it not only installed that app but also MacKeeper as well. He noticed the latter in his Applications folder later and hastened to get rid of it pronto.

Must have been a .pkg installer, I always check them before I install such packages.

I would guess so; at any rate, the guy apparently wasn't paying close attention when the downloading was finished and he was installing..... I am someone who always reads everything and looks carefully during the installation process to see if there are any little surprises in there, any default option checkboxes which need to be unchecked, etc. Too many people DON'T pay attention to this sort of thing, much to their later regret.
