I ordered my MacBook Pro with Retina Display from them on Sunday and overnighted it and it got here Tuesday.

There was even someone on their online chat service ready to answer my questions. I didn't believe they had any rMBPs in stock like their site claimed, but he affirmed that they did.

The only thing is they call you a few times before the package ships and even after. The first call seems most important where they confirm your address and info you put in online. Then they called again trying to sell me things like a DVD drive. Then the morning the package was supposed to arrive, they called again to sell me apple care.

I also had to pay sales tax since I'm in California, but they had a promo code where it was $100 off and they already discounted the computer by like $10-15 anyway, so it was cheaper than just buying it from an Apple Store and faster since they had stock.

I'd totally order from them again.

You realize you are suppose to pay taxes on those purchases anyways, right

Yes, they are a very reputable company. I've never personally bought from them but I've only heard good. You can also check out Amazon. They have free 2 day shipping (amazon prime has a free trial if you don't have it already) and also don't charge taxes.

Virtually no online vendor charges sales tax on out of state purchases. Technically you are supposed to based on the laws of certain states, but it feels so wrong to give a city that mismanages billions of dollars even more $$ to F up.

Kind of wish I'd seem them earlier... not sure if its worth it now. I'm a 3-4 week, est July 12-18, but my order for a 2.3/16/256 after taxes is $2,297.68... Which is pretty good all things considering.

I'll have to keep them in mind though for the next time I go to order something.

I ordered a rMBP from their site on Saturday, and it'll be here tomorrow. Also saving $200 in tax is worth it alone. They do BTO as well.

They do offer CTO, but according to the rep I spoke with in their chat, they do not have any CTO / 16GB models in stock.

Just FYI, Macintouch has an entire consumer issues section devoted to people with issues with MacMall:

http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/consumerissues/topic2979.html

I personally have never shopped with them, but you may want to read some of the reader reports from Macintouch and decide for yourself if they are trustworthy or not.

Almost every website out there has a list/dedicated section to large retailers.

If you sell to 200 customers, you will have 1 that says you are the worst thing on earth. Most will think he is crazy since he is alone.

If you sell to 20,000,000 customers, you will have 100,000 that say you are the worst thing in the world. It will appear as if you are the worst thing since cancer, since 100,000 people hate you, but 19,900,000 people like you!

That website has maybe two dozen people. Two dozen people! Many of whom are complaining about LaCie products, not MacMall's service as a re-seller/vendor.

FWIW, we do not work for mac mall. We've sold to OWC a couple of times, which are direct competition to the company I'm playing devil's advocate to right now.

If you really disagree with it that much, change it. Don't just blatantly break a law because you don't agree with the way something is being run. Thats not how you bring about change.

I doubt most of these online vendors are trying to bring about change, they're just trying to keep their conversion rates high by not obeying a ridiculous law that is never enforced.

I will never order from MacMall again. I ordered a CPU daughter card from them in the 1990's and it was defective. Even though their return policy stated "money back guarantee" they hijacked my money and gave me an in-store credit. I called several times and was directly lied to about their crediting my charge card. Finally I just ordered something else from them and had the credit applied.

They aren't the ones breaking the law, the people not paying the taxes are. Once you make the purchase you are suppose to pay the taxes on your own.
