K, get this,
you put your hands around the base station, like you do with those plasma balls, concentrate a little, and when the pulses a white light all over you've established a connection.

Then all you do is THINK commands and words, and they appear on the screen.

Now THAT would blow my socks off!

I hope it's quiet, and lacks a fan. I hate my computers that have noisy fans. Ugh. That whirring noise makes me yearn for an old 16 bit computer without a fan. I've only owned two computers with fans, and have tried hard to silence them 🙂

I doubt they could build a G4 sans fan

wow (yawn)

Thanks BZ for letting me get a look at the article. The text certainly implies that this is the "big thing". All I can do is hope that the Time banner statement "There's alswys more to the story" applies here.

This is gonna be the big announcement. Like a few people have mentioned (maybe not on this forum; I'm cycling between 3 or 4 different forums and lost track of what I read where several hours ago), Time is the big gun. You don't squander an opportunity to get a 7 page, full color advertisement into the hands of millions upon millions of people all over the globe. If Apple had something more seductive for the masses, that's what would have been highlighted in the interview with Time.

Now, that's not to say that there won't be news that is more important to real Mac freaks. Separate the audiences; Time is read by your average consumer all over the world. They have different interests than those of us that haven't slept the last week to make sure we catch the latest slogan on apple.com. There could be some news that is bland for anybody not accustomed to the wonderful Apple experience (read; 95 out of every 100 people reading Time) that is going to make the rest of us (the 5 out of that 100 that that has some idea of what computers are capable of being) collectively wet ourselves. Could be just about anything; wireless devices or improved wireless internet, USB 2.0, the G5 (doubtful, in my mind, but within the realm of possibility), a digital camera from the iPod school of thought.

It's been a week. The next 3 1/2 hours are going to kill me. Christmas was never this good.

Sorry this just ain't no big deal

Another type of computer? that's it? photo software?
Sorry this thing doesn't exactly make we want to go out and get one - this will bomb like the cube.

iMac

When the iPod was introduced, how long before the announcement was the online Apple Store closed?

Also, what were the satellite coordinates that Apple released earlier for?

Even that wouldn't live up to the hype Apple has been giving it! 😉

the "old" imac has no fan either ....!

I really hope this is worth the wait. I sold my G4 450 Cube & 17" CRT Studio Display last week, in anticipation of the new "Desktop".

A G4 with a Superdrive would make my day!
