MacMinute claims new iMac on TIME cover

Give me a reasonably priced Cinema Display, I've got everything else that's fast and cool. 800 2x, TiBook, iPod...

I think my Apple stock is going to take a hit.

 
This is all there is...

I think this new iMac is the ONLY big announcement for tomorrow. Why all the pre-show hype? To get the Media excited about the show, to give the new iMac a lot of exposure. The success of the iMac is critical to Apple...and they needed to make sure the world was paying attention.

I think the rest of us are in for a lot of dissapointment. Apple knows that we'll stick around and buy their stuff...I mean look at us...we're glued to every word they say. Apple's real focus is getting the attention of everyone else. And, that's what they were attempting to do with the hype.

Forget that WE all knew some new iMac was coming...they wanted the rest of the world, who don't pay attention, to know.

I am betting against any more rabbits out of the hat. And...another MacWorld comes and goes without Apple releasing a PDA. Steve is plain wrong on this front. I respect him and what he has done for Apple, but on this one issue, he is wrong.

prototype . .?

Maybe Steve is playing another BIG joke on us all. What if this iMac is just 1 among many prototypes for the new iMac?

Don't like the design, the foot is way to big and looks stupid...no harmony! no balance feels like a prototype...

Above 1000$ will be a cube mistake...we know what computers are and we don'tbuy imacs, consumers do....consumers are simple, they only care about looks and price!!! If they soled the cube under a 1000$, it was a bomb...

Apple & time are professionals, can't believe mistakes are made here...
But what bothers me is that the hype was probably all about this imac, and that would be a major dissapointment!!!!
I can't imagine that time puts apple 2 times in row on the cover! So this was it!

F**k that, i've been played as a consumer...not as a mac-lover...

More than the iMac?

I'm hoping that there'll be more than just the new iMac and some software..Don't forget that there's double sided tape under every tenth chair at the keynote. Fingers crossed!

this new imac will be the real deal.
g4, superdrive,15"lcd, all for $1800.
sounds like a great deal to me.
maybe its not the starship enterprise, but for 99% of the general population the new imac will be the closest thing to startrek that they can imagaine.
can't wait to see the specs on the new powermacs...

I agree. I think Apple is thinking to much consumer and so little Powerusers 🙁
But maybe they will BLOW US AWAY, let`s wait and se 🙂

I'm going to bed, but hopefully you'll answer my previous post as to what you think about the ELNK/SKyCorp/Apple relationship and how I think thats the big announcement on Monday.

Dont forget....alot of space references from apple lately. And is 200 times faster then a 56k modem "full speed ahead". Call me crazy but I think I've come up with something.

One last thing, I think its interesting that the article, if I remember correctly, made NO mention of internet hardware (ethernet card etc..) because maybe they didnt know.

I LOVE the new iMac! I think it is really cool. The price tag is resonable, too. Were you hoping for a PDA? I wasn't. Not that I don't want one, but I really do not see PDAs in the market at this point. You or some of the Newton lovers might want one.. but would you still pay $1200 for a PDA? If the iMac is already too expensive, what would you complain about the PDA?

I hate to say this, but I am 100% satisfied. I was waiting for an iMac with SuperDrive, and I got one. So... I am sorry that you didn't get what you were hoping for, but the thing was, as I have said before, that we need to put our perspective here. Don't expect anything too "gound breaking" when this "ground breaking" turns into "wallet breaking" as well. I really don't think that Newton will be back. I might be new to the Mac scene, (got my first B&W G3 a couple of years ago, but I got addicted right away), but a friend of mine told me that Newton was Scully's (?) idea, and he fired Steve. The bad blood is still there, so there is no way Steve is going to give credit to Newton ever...

P.S. I hope that Newton comes back someday. I have seen one, and I was really amazed. But I don't think that this is the right time. Thaks you for listening.

i think the impact and commercial value of time is to important to play with...if you have time cover...you say what you have to say...i realy can't imagine that steve goes tomorrow to time and saiz: euuh put me back on the cover for next week....we have something revolutionary!! That sounds bs...

i'll be still hoping....
