Hmm OK, I do want to point out that the problem with dosdude1's installer seems to be in the Mac OS Installer code, not the application. The application works as intended. It appears Apple still is not allowing installation somehow.

You beat me to it! I was working on the automated installer too. I ran into a bug so I'll put it on github. Mine has some extra features like enabling displayport audio and track pad gestures on unsupported computers, and including the drivers for the older non gigabit USB Ethernet adapter. Also it uses a method I discovered to bypass compatibility check WITHOUT changing platformsupport

I get to the MacOS installer, then I select my disk so on, then i press Install, and it says that message. (don't remember it, it's up there ^^^)

I'm just going to release OSXE1.33 in the other threads to improve graphics and performance and get 1.4 with Sierra support for the newer unsupported machines. Then I'll work on my patcher for OS's Mountain Lion - Sierra (for some of the oldies). No ETA since I'm planning on working with the devs for CAT.

Just tried your installer, the installation went well and I applied the patch afterward, but was still met with a no smoking sign when I tried to boot it up. This is on a mid-2009 iMac. Thanks for all your hard work! Hopefully it'll be up and running soon.

It's offically called the apple "No" symbol. lol

It worked on mine, but I got stuck on a message after pushing install.
 
Haven't you guys learned anything? The patch will work, but you have to DELETE platformsupport.plist not patch it. This has been common all the way back to Yosemite

EDIT: nevermind. Still got the ban hammer.

MacOS Sierra on Unsupported MacBook Air 2,1 (late 2008)

I appreciate everyone's hard work, but so far I have not been able to successfully boot into Sierra even once using the tools and methods posted here. 🙁

Edit: Finally got the installer created with @dosdude1's tool to boot by adding MacBookAir2,1 to PlatformSupport.plist, but with no USB support it's impossible to use.

Edit2: I now have a full install booted off the MacBook Air's internal SSD, but still no USB.

Edit3: Is anyone else seeing this? It appears that, at least for me, LegacyUSBInjector.kext is a dud.

Edit4: It runs, but without USB and without Wi-Fi it can only be considered a proof of concept at this time. I was luckily able to pair a Bluetooth keyboard & mouse to grab this screenshot.

Edit5: I forgot that Bluetooth is on the USB bus, so it's at least partially working. It doesn't recognize the internal keyboard/trackpad or anything connected to the single USB port, though.

Edit6: Got an internet connection established with Bluetooth PAN. Siri does work. I also updated the About This Mac shot above with the (Late 2008) present.

I will admit that system performance is very poor in some areas but this is low-spec hardware and Sierra is only a beta 1. Not a good combination.

Edit7: @dosdude1 has provided a fixed version of LegacyUSBInjector.kext that works as intended.

Got it. Here's what you have to do.

Run Dosdude's installer. Don't rein the patcher. Instead, add your board if and model number to platformsupport manually. Finally, run sierra4you 0.1. I've got her booted. Wifi problems but nothing an external can't fix. Thanks guys.
 
OK, I CANNOT RUN THE INSTALLER! I get

This is after pressing the install button on the installer. I says about a minuete remaining, and then Install failed!
Request failed to initialize.
Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.

UHHH WTF! I do have keyboard and mouse in the installer however.

You're using an old version, I've since fixed that issue. Please re-download and re-create your USB drive.
 
I've got it installed using a supported Mac, replaced some kexts with those from El Capitan, but the trackpad is weird. Anybody can give me the names of kexts which are responsible for the built-in trackpad?

It works normally on El Cap, though.

Do you have SIP disabled from el capitan? You need to run the script on el capitan with SIP disabled.

Hi!

I have a MacBook Pro mid 2009, 8go ram ssd 256go.

Would install Sierra but havent a supported MacBook.

Any chances to install the beta without this ?

Hello everyone, Activa66 yes it's possible... I have downloaded the preinstalled Sierra image from the Mac OS HACKERS Sierra page(about 8GB), then repartitioned my HDD with Disk Utility directly on El Capitan, and then restored the image to the new partition(for some reason 30GB was not enough, I got an error not enough space, so I made the new partition 50GB and restored with no problem) then booted the new partition and I am able to boot to the Sierra, but my trackpad, keyboard and all USB devices are not working, I disabled SIP via the El Capitan Recovery, then in El Capitan ran the Sierra4you restarted but no success, tried to replace the LegacyUSBInjector.kext - no success and now a ran the Post Utility, from the Sierra patcher but again no success... Any idea guys? MacBook 5,1(Aluminium unibody late 2008).

Install El Capitan USB kexts to the Sierra partition with Kext Wizard from El Capitan.
 
Ok so I installed all kexts containing USB in their name from /System/Library/Extensions/, rebooted but again no success and the wi-fi icon received an X meaning that I broke and the wi-fi kexts, so I'm restoring one more time the Full install.dmg from the Hackers, are there any specific kext names? I can't find LegacyUSBInjector.kext on El Capitan in Library/Extensions...

Wheree is this presinstalled Sierra ?
