You can't update to PB3 anymore, as it's not available. You need to update to PB5.

I have 3 connectors, MacBook Pro 4,1. Trying to find the best card to put in. Since I have to do it, might as well as well go big or go home. I've already torn it apart. Oddly enough, the chip is from '06. But it appears to me that I should be able to do more. Being said, what all can I do
I'm just going to go ahead with this. Cheap, jumps me from only ABG to ABGN, which will provide a boost.

MacBookPro3,1 and 4,1 models have 3 antenna connectors! The third one is the cable with the black plastic end! Just remove the black thing from the cable.

Actually I bought the one Apple stuck their logo on, makes me feel better. Especially since I hate ToSHITa.

Follow this procedure: Reboot the computer, open the tool, refresh updates twice. Then, reboot the machine again. This time, open the patch tool, select PB5, and click "Patch Update". If it says it was successful, refresh updates ONCE only, and then check the App Store.

what to do if not helps ?

All my unsupported machines seem to obtain their IP address using DHCP just fine. Maybe it's your network configuration? What card/machine are you using?

MBP 5,4. No issues previously. What's interesting is it seems to work the first two or three times right after upgrade and since I only use this MBP once every couple of days, I've noticed that it stops getting IPs via DHCP and I need to manually set it.

btw - those with 2008 MacBook Pro's (4,1) - I got the mCard today. Appears continuity is working (at least the texting is, so the phone handoff is there). The option to enable unlocking via the watch is there, but enabling it almost always leads to timeout after about 8 minutes. (I say almost as it appeared to enable once - but didn't work at all)

I'll play with continuity more after this next beta update (maybe I'll get lucky and it'll just magically start working) :)

I didn't need to mod any kexts for the mCard out of the gate. It just worked. BT and 802.11AC wifi working right out of the box.

So this is "interesting"... each time I refresh the Updates list in the App Store, my machine now deletes the entire com.apple.SoftwareUpdateManager folder and redownloads the dist files (thus deleting the modified one).

Anyone else seeing this?

Not on mine, nope. 7 of the directories were updated on the 19th. The two that were updated today were s and i.

Hello to everyone! Just a quick question, i was wondering, if i backup the present state with time machine (i'm on an Mac mini 3,1 -early2009 with PB5), then a disk failure occurs and need to install afterwards macOS sierra on a new disk with the initial tool-patch, does the restore from time machine bring back the last public beta, or must i use macOS Sierra software update patch again?

hi - how does rebooting and refreshing updates twice then once exactly help? Maybe will help me understand why my updates aren't working. Thx.

For some reason, the entire Update Catalog folder gets erased when refreshing updates a second time, removing the patched file. The only way to make it not do this is to reboot once, and only refresh updates once.

yikes PB6 is out, only just got PB5, after days of arm twisting.
No PB6 showing in my App Store.
Here we go again.

thoughts please.

...and, amazingly enough, the unlocking with the Apple Watch just worked. (still have a problem with my IOBluetoothFamily.kext - system reporting says it isn't signed properly...so need to get a vanilla one and fix that).
Encouraging though. Means we may be able to get this feature working on our Macs when Sierra goes GA. :)

I'm amazed as my MacBook Pro 2009 runs macOS Sierra very well (with 8GB RAM and SSD), it looks better than El Capitan that is officially supported. I wonder if there is a justifiable reason for Apple remove the official support for this model, not just to force people to buy a new Mac.
