Basically, yes. I've been using Macs since before OSX. But, unfortunately, I don't know command line or the intricate files that make the system work. So, that is all I could think to try.

Everything I tried, the system is still only offering to find a bluetooth trackpad under System Preference.

Anyone have this? I'm PB6 atm and about to upgrade to PB7. Keyboards backlight doesn't work regardless if i turn on the auto or not.
Here you go. I'm also going to add this to the latest version of the macOS Sierra Patcher.

How do I "install" this? I slapped it into the HID folder seeings as that makes the most sense. I should also note that neither the up or down commands work either.
You've got to put it in the proper directory inside the PlugIns folder of AppleSMCLMU.kext. Rebuild prelinkedkernel after placing it. If you can't manage it, just wait, as I'm almost finished updating the patch tool to include this fix.

I figured it out, was just about to tell you. That is exactly what I did. I put it in PlugIns folder of AppleSMCLMU.kext, though all I did was reboot and it worked.

The funny thing is that the prior two updates didn't seem to replace that Plugin. This one did (with the Sierra one).
Usually I just have to touch the file, use kext utility to clear / rebuild the kernel cache and reboot. This time I had to copy it back in.

Heh...want to hear something really weird? This update broke my unlocking with Apple Watch. No amount of toggling, signing out of iCloud, etc could get it working again. I add this PlugIn back in and boom, it's working again.

btw - anyone with a MacBook Pro 4,1 that wants to go the same route that I did and get an mCard to give your system BLE 4.0 and 802.11AC wifi - get their mCard 3, not their mCArd 2 - while the original Airport Express in our systems only used 2 wifi antennae, there's actually an unused 3rd one there. May as well get the extra 250Mb/s+ out of the card. :)
Told QuickerTek about this - they're updating their compatibility matrix.

Unfortunately I still hadn't any time to retry sierra on my old late 08 (unibody) macbook and'll wait for GM, now. Maybe someone can tell me more, I bought 2x 4GB RAM and a GMYLE® USB Bluetooth V4.0 (Continum supported BCM20702 chipset) stick - as far as I could read, the replaced sticks with Continum hack won't support all features and are more limited than replacing airport cards. Will I be able to use unlock with Apple Watch with my old lady using the stick?

Thanks and cheers (Danish "Faxe" Beer)

Yeah it seems every update tosses the fix. I'm glad I kept the plugin as an extra lol. N I already got the Apple Atheros card. It only does ABGN though. No ble4 (Bluetooth 4?) though it has 3 antennas that I hooked all up. Don't know why they covered one up with electrical tape though, odd

The bluetooth has to support BLE 4.x - that's bluetooth low energy. You also have to have a newer 802.11 chipset. We know the Broadcom ones that support the AC protocol work - we don't know explicitly that feature Apple is using, so we really can't confirm if any older wifi cards will work yet or not.

My guess is, they originally planned on having a 3-antennae card in the MBP, but there were supply constraints when they were coming to market, so went with the 2-antennae model. Without BLE (bluetooth low energy) you won't be able to get the unlocking via Apple Watch working. :(. Heh...if you're even interested in that, that is.

If I had an Apple watch lol. but i bought the better apple wifi card so i could have wifi with sierra. it's got 3 antennas and it does seem faster. but the one stock was arg, i put the sign model with atheros instead of broadcom. i was also told it was the best i could do, i wanted ac too :/

A shame you didn't hear about the mCard first. :(. Not sure how much the Atheros card is - the mCard is on sale for $79 right now.

Ok, to the guys that have the MacBook 13" 5,2's - Please tell me you guys have upgraded them with SSD's and memory!!

Holy crap...have I been spoiled. This thing has 2GB of ram and a SLOOOOOOOW 120GB SATA 5400rpm disk in it. Installing PB7 on it was pretty damn painful.

Upgrading the memory in the MBP, so the 4GB in it is going to go into the 5,2. But I'm going to pull the SSD from my (never used) Windows 10 desktop (hey, I have blu-ray ripping software I need a windows box for, ok?) ;) and throw that in this thing. Think that'll be tomorrow's project. Just painful. Wow! :(

Edit - pretty sure most of the slowness is the memory. That memory from OWC can't get here fast enough! :)

After that situation, I've implemented forced cache clearing (only after finding a bug), by changing the timestamp given out. Hopefully that'll make things smoother in the future!

Note: All future updates are autopush at this point.
Just pulled the latest PB7 with your catalog. Smooth as silk. Thanks.

Does a Mac mini late 2009 run Sierra perfectly?

Thanks
You should familiarize yourself with the search function - there's a lot of information in this thread.
No, your wifi won't work - see:
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ted-macs-thread.1977128/page-75#post-23258543

@Luigi222 you can also find a guide on ifixit showing you how to replace your wifi/bluetooth card:
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac+mini+Model+A1283+AirPort-Bluetooth+Combo+Card+Replacement/1060

Hmm. Not sure there's actually a compatible card to replace it with though. You may have to go the USB route. (that does mean you may have some issues getting some continuity features working).

Ok, I got Sierra installed now. So out of the box in Sierra the trackpad on a Macbook 5,1 and 5,2 can recognise 2 fingers (to scroll). Its for this reason alone I would say it is being recognised as a trackpad even though we configure it in the mouse preferences.

I agree. I had 2gb for a while and it was awful. OS X reduces the frame rate of the UI when there's less than 4gb of ram in this computer and it makes for a rough time. I have 6gb now so all is well :)

Yep, I saw that when booted from the old disk - when you went into trackpad under system preferences it said no trackpad found, but if you went into mouse it has the various parameters you can tweak for your mouse.

Heh. Once I have something I can test on without gritting my teeth, I'll start trying various tweaks with kexts and plugins. May be a week before the memory upgrade shows up (glad these two systems use the same memory, so I can hand the 4GB down to the MacBook) :)

I have an Early 2008 MacBook Pro 17" 4,1 Model A1261
I took your advice earlier and ordered QuickerTek's mCard 2 and received it but have not installed it.
Do you have the same MacBook Pro Model?

You now recommend I return the mCard 2 for an mCard 3?

Either card will work, but the advantage of the third antennae is another 50% more network bandwidth. (each antennae gets you about 250Mb/s+ of speed). You can contact QuickerTek and ask them to swap the card (they offered to do it for me for free - obviously, I'd pay the return shipping for the mCard 2).
I didn't bother as I didn't want to disassemble my MBP again. I'm happy with the 500Mb/s+ speeds that I'm getting.

Can you verify that my 17" A1261 model has the 3rd antenna?
