I don't need more features, I need some of the innumerable bugs fixed, some have been there since the beginning of osx.. The built in apps, photos in particular is a QC mess. Welp, that was a bust. OS13 worked on my MBP without a hitch but bricked my iMac. Can't even boot in recovery or safe mode :( I guess I should have known better.

There aren’t really many features I want, I’d like a “Snow Monterey” as mentioned by others already. Would be great if they didn’t kill Rosetta 2 support in the next release, if that counts as a feature. I’m pretty happy with macOS overall.

Also, that system preferences redesign sounds awful.

I hope
1. the Clock, Health, Camera and many other iOS apps on Mac
2. screen recording from control center (with sound)
3. that iOS apps' behavior gets better
4. Screen Time gets more accurate and able to be controlled with Shortcuts
5. even easier switching between Xcode and Swift Playgrounds

In the future, Apple should stop letting iOS app developers not to support macOS.

oh god. macOS 13 system preferences more in line to look like iPhone settings.

More proof macOS is morphing into IOS

We don't need anything new. We just want everything to work properly. Disk Utility and Music are two apps that are frustrating and getting close to worthless. Just smooth out all the rough spots, that's all I want. I'd like to be able to have Disk Warrior (or something similar) work for my peace of mind.
I use Disk Utility regularly for erasing USB thumb drive or another Mac via Target Disk Mode. What kind of issue you experience?

Soon you will only be able to download apps from the Apple APP store. just like IOS. no installing apps outside of the Apple store.

You watch. wait and see.

I bet this is the next move for macOS.

Probably in next years Apple silicon only macOS.

If this happens I'm staying BACK to previous versions of macOS.

An integrated way to view and buy music, movies, entertainment stuff that is more user friendly without having to deal with separate apps.

Bring back the old iTumes.

Prior to 2013 Apple had the big cat theme of names for Mac OS X releases.

It appears Mac OS 13 Mammoth will be the last of the Californian place names. Before making this theme extinct.

So 2023, will represent a new naming theme? Curious to see what the new naming theme will be?

But like most, I just want to see MacOS cleaned up with improvements and bug fixes to Finder and the music app.

A ground-up redesign and rebuild of Music is definitely needed. The current version on macOS is terrible. Laggy, slow, counter-intuitive UI and just painful to use. Apple, please buy a copy of Roon and learn how to do this right.

IMHO, all of Apple’s numbers/naming schemes are getting tired. It’s mostly because it’s really just the same thing every year…

Everyone was surprised about Windows 11. It was basically unexpected.

They need something new and fresh.

I would like to see files and folders in Finder to automatically get “cleaned up” by name when I delete something in the middle while having it in tiled view.

Also, if that’s already possible, pleeeease let me know how 🙃
Did you sort them by name? A lot of people switch to icon view without having any sort so the or ding is sort of random and them when you add or remove files, the order is still undefined. It might be nice if they sorted by name or something by default but there is this weird non-sorted state that seems to be the default.

After Big Sur broke printer compatibility and it took me weeks to find a more or less stable workaround I decided to “update” very 2 years and only after several month into the release and after checking everywhere “what broke Apple now”. Nothing relevant for me to make want to update.
Yep, learnt that many years ago. Still on Mojave on my 2015 rMBP. And my new 16" M1 MBP is arriving in a couple of weeks, and since Apple delightfully enforces the latest OS version upon new buyers, I waited to make sure Monterey was mature enough before the purchase, but not so long that the next new broken OS was out yet.

Monterey was a pass for me. I am on an ageing iMac 5k which still serves me well but Mavericks was sluggish on it ( may be better now after a few updates) I'd like to see a bit of a UI refresh. There has been little change in a few years. And optimised. I want it to be zippy and I dont mind of it's low on features. Just zippy.

Still need OS Tahoe

I just started a job that requires using Windows 10. After 3.5 years of Mojave and Monterey, I just want stability like I’ve had. Please don’t upgrade every year, maybe every other year with fixes in between. Windows 10 is ridiculous with all the updates and reboots. Please don’t be Windows, it’s why I left it.

That said, Apple needs to make sure that macOS continues to support Intel-powered Macs for a few years yet, so it is possible that macOS 13 will be compatible with a similar range of Macs as macOS Monterey supports

Have to say that’s the most optimistic statement I’ve seen in a while! Apple ditched PowerPC in a little over 3 years with Snow Leopard. They aren’t known for looking back and they sure don’t want to have to deal with two architectures now Apple Silicon is out.

It’s definitely not a bad thing from a technological perspective and it’ll really allow them to get the most from Apple Silicon. But that Intel MacBook you bought in 2020 to get a keyboard that actually worked will likely be a doorstop in 2-3 years…

RealityOS- no more physical/tangible Macs/Phones/Tablets but all of them available in VR wherever one goes... along with big screen TV, Apple Grandfather Clock, Apple health team, etc all "IN" there. Services like VR court-side seats to all games... front row center VR seats to all shows, etc too.

Crazy? Maybe, but if $3K pricing is true, it seems it can't be only Apple Oculus (mostly gaming). Bypass all supply chains, eliminate all shipping delays, designed and virtually manufactured entirely in Cupertino, 0% environmental waste, massive new "services" revenue for ongoing access on demand, etc.
