I just installed Sequoia 15.5 to Mac mini 2009 Late, there is no USB 1.1 problems, but OTA couldn't use USB hub.

So based on the info Mr. Macintosh posted on X, the info I received earlier this year was correct, and the T2 is the minimal requirement. for macOS on intel. Based on only 2019, and 2020 intel Macs being supported now. Which was the initial rumor for intel support, or apple dropping intel completely.

After downloading 26 Dev, when it restarted there was the often seen Apple Support circle, I waited about an hour and then restarted, there was an OS update included in the options, but I decided for now to continue on to the external 15.5. There was no OCLP request to update during the download, and I was not expecting any. I have not bricked anything yet, but I am pretty certain that after the Liquid Glass/AI WWDC, there is a very marginal chance 26 will work at this point. That does not mean I will not try later.

I do really like the Liquid Glass changes to ATV, IOS and the Ipad mini.

The impressions I got were, if it requires the T-2 to run, then it won't be supported on older macs, with open core. I think all the macs listed for support have a T-2. So, we'll just have to see.

Additionally according to MR Tahoe will be the last MacOS that supports Intel chips anyway. MacOS 27 will be M class only.

With security updates being provided for 3ish OS generations backwards, most around here will do just fine with their current Intel machines. OCLP project will last for a few more years.

After all, the time has come as we’ve speculated so often around here.

I gave it a try, when I clicked the installer the crossed circle came up, I then restarted in the test volume and reverted patches, no change, the software update still shows an update available, and the test volume does still work.

I can't believe this, but it is happening in real time: I clicked software update and did the upgrade now, instead of the later which I did the first try, shortly thereafter OCLP asked to update and then started downloading a new KDK(25A5279m), the updater is still in 35 minute mode but the KDK is downloaded. Who knows what will happen next, will Liquid Glass appear? This is on an external SSD volume, created with OCLP's USB maker, the only change to the system was installing FireFox and changeing to auto login.

The Mini 2018 has T2, so the correlation you're proposing is not the only factor.

This video was in my subscriptions this morning, that I'm watching now:

That was my thinking, we may see the return of "spoofing".

I share Jessie's optimism re getting some of the dropped models working. That could just be wishful thinking on my part.

Unrelated but does question this argument about right to repairs , what’s the point if all the software has been dropped from your “devices” anyway.
Either way Mac OS 26 beta 1 did download and install just the mouse and keyboard don’t work but it does install on mid 2014 MacBook Pro (was done but don’t do it) but it’s at the login screen lol.

Did you try an external keyboard and mouse? I think it is worth trying...
I am tempted now!!! 😈

Yes also tried but my keyboard is a windows one and so is the mouse (lol) I don’t own apple ones but nothing went horribly wrong and it boots fine . Just run it on your test partition also I just did it OTA on Sequoia 15.5.

This did not work so I deleted the test volume and will probably try again since the is a new KDK(25A5279m) that OCLP asks to install.

This seems similar to what I found. On my HackMini8,1 (hackintosh with the now unsupported MacMini8,1 SMBIOS), I found that I could install Tahoe when I run the macOS Beta installer from my SSD, but not from a USB installer. The Tahoe installer does not like my USB port mapping, so installing from USB would fail with "still waiting for root device."

I haven't explored further to figure out the cause or whether a new USB port mapping is required.

EDIT: In order to install Tahoe on my HackMini8,1, I only needed to add the Open Core "skip board id check" patch. I think that those with real MacMini8,1s should fully expect a new OCLP that allows installation of Tahoe.

EDIT2: I did notice that Tahoe is missing IOUSBFamily.kext in System/Library/Extensions. I'm sure it's not a coincidence that this kext is missing in Tahoe and Intel USB is not working.
