Can anyone think of another way to resurrect this machine? It was working fine and even though it is old I'd really like to still use it for various things. Thank you in advance for whatever help you can give me
You can make a bootable USB from the terminal. Type or paste this into terminal and replace <MyVolume> with your USB name:

Code:
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sequoia.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume

Complete instructions:

Mid-2012 13" non-Retina MacBook Pro (MacBookPro9,2) with 16 GB RAM, SSD, and OCLP 2.4.1:

Updated from 15.6 to 15.7 without incident. No issues noted so far.

this same
I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro 15" that was running Sequoia via OpenCore Legacy Patcher until recently. Something went wrong--I think I may have inadvertently installed 15.6.2--and now it gives me the attached screen when I try to boot. I have tried to make a bootable Big Sur installation disk but I don't know if the "Install macOS Big Sur.app" file I downloaded makes a bootable disk or not. If it does, it has not worked. this exact same error happened to me today, but because I was playing with the partitions of the disk, I though I might have corrupted the partition with macOS in it, since this screen means there is no OS being recognized at all, what I did was start internet recovery (command + r at startup) and nuked the partition to do a clean macOS install, everything went well. Running 15.6.1 smoothly

I see that macOS Tahoe and Sequoia 15.7 are now available in Software Udpate on my OCLP volume of 15.6.1... I think I'll wait a while before considering an update to 15.7, just in case there are some OCLP updates as well.

macOS Tahoe 26: 16.92 GB
macOS Sequoia 15.7: 15.63 GB
Yeah figures.. I just now finished updating my 2015 MBA from Monterey to OCLP/Sequoia 15.6.1.. I guess I wasn't paying attention to possible release dates lately.. oh well.. I'm up and running on it. Although, this MBA really doesn't have enough RAM for this IMO.

/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/
Dear Houser,
Thank you so much for your reply. My 2013 is obviously out of the picture until I can get it going again, so I went to the terminal of my 2024 laptop with an external disk entitled "OS" to follow your instructions. Big Sur is the latest OS that is supported on my old machine so I substituted Big Sur for Sequoia. Here's what happened in the terminal. What did I do wrong?

To update my earlier post, OCLP 2.4.1 is now correctly showing 15.7 in the download installers window.

Well, Just did in place update from supported Monterey to OCLP/Sequoia 15.6.1 installer I created yesterday.. Looks like everything works so far that I've tested. It did seem to wipe out my Apple movie library cover art on several movies.. Anyone have an idea on how to get those back other than starting over from scratch?

Reboot in safe mode. Hold option key upon p.o.s.t. chime.

Out of curiosity: Does spotlight break for everyone else as well after updating every time? On this machine its a 100% winning bet.

This one a just for fun comparison:

Xcode 26

Is Xcode 26 incompatible with OCLP? I've been unable to install it from the App Store and from a downloaded official installer.

Is Xcode 26.0 compatible with Sequoia? It shows as an update. in the App store, it downloads, but then I keep getting a message saying it can't be downloaded once it gets to the installing phase, usually this only happened the first time when updating to a new version of Xcode under sequoia, but this time it keeps happening. Should I remove Xcode 16.4 first then install? Thanks.

Somehow I missed your post, I was having the same issue. I was going to try and download it from developer.apple.com instead, to see if it works that way.
No, I already tried that. It doesn't work either. I don't suppose it's an AVX/AVX2 issue (my Mac Pro 5,1 processor doesn't have the requisite set of instructions), but who knows?

Download is very slow, but Safari 26 is running faster than previous 18.6 on my Early 2015 MBP 15.

^I tried that, but, sadly, it didn't work for me. I downloaded Xcode_26_Universal.xip. When it unzipped, an Xcode installer was generated. Running it, it finally failed.

PS. The second attempt was the charm. I can't figure out why it failed a few hours ago. Now there were no issues.

Xcode 16.4 works for me (2015 15-inch MacBook Pro, MacBookPro11,5) on Sequoia 15.6.1.

I'll give Xcode 26 a test when I upgrade to Sequoia 15.7 in a few days, and the same with Safari 26.

@PeterHolbrook The app store works for me too, removed the app downloaded from the site, and installed via app store. up to date, and runs without issues.
