This started for me yesterday. None of my three Macs can use either Messages or FaceTime. They both close and return to the login screen, as you say. Coincidentally (?), I had put Tahoe RC on my M1 the day before. It had been running Tahoe betas all summer. OCLP is not an issue in my case. The other two Macs are Intel, on 15.6.1.
Jerry, my solution was to speak with a senior advisor at Apple support and they found (after a couple of days) that my iMessages and FaceTime account had been blocked for some reason but wouldn't say why. They took me to a special website where I was able to request an unblock and it all came good 12 hours later. Usually, the only reason Apple blocks is for spamming, but I have never used spam. I'm not a great believer in coincidence, so I'm fairly sure it's related to the Tahoe RC install but we'll know more when millions of people install the release version on Monday.

This might help some with iMessage /activation issues and appears to have worked for at least one account
iPhone/Mac (both up to date and with no OCLP):
  1. Go to apple.co/IMFT-mac.
  2. Under Enable Apple Account, tap Get Started.
  3. Sign in to your Apple Account and follow the onscreen instructions. If you use a phone number with FaceTime and iMessage, make sure you enter that phone number.
You will receive an email if your account is ready for iMessage and FaceTime use.

From this general support page:

Maybe Apple has changed something for some reason that requires a reset of activation for FaceTime and iMessage for some or many users at some scale but that is just an uneducated guess.

I plan to keep a copy of Monterey around for my 2015 MacBook. It's a good idea to have a fully-supported version, just in case.
I'm still running it on my 2 2015s...I tried OCLP/Sonoma and Sequoia on the 2015 MBP and when playing apple purchased movies etc on an external connected monitor did not work. That was very early this year I think.. not sure if that has been fixed and I really didn't want to mess with it.. Sonoma works very well and stable on the 2012 so I'll stay on that.. I might play this weekend with one of the 2015s.. not sure..

I’d like to see the hibernate mode:
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode

You can set it to:
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3. So it doesn’t go to hibernation (25), only safe sleep.

To have normal power after sleep:
sudo pmset -b reducespeed

To disable auto power off and standby:
sudo pmset -a standby 0
sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0

As well you want to check which GPU is being used after waking up. If I’m not mistaken, your MacBook has two GPUs?
It is set to "hibernatemode 0".
Disabling the hibernate mode didn't work unfortunately.

I think I should check a compatible MacOS version, though it's really time consuming to switch over to an older OS.
I really hope to find a solution for this.

Had the iMessage issue, too. Went to that website, half a day later message from Apple that it was fixed. Just want to point out that I never installed Tahoe.

Thanks! iMessage working good so far! - Did take some time to happen.

I upgraded my 2015 MBP13 this evening to Sequoia 15.7 using OCLP 2.4.1. The install worked out well and I am running on the updated OS and Safari update. The only thing I am noticing from this update is sometimes the computer lags just a bit when I'm trying to highlight and delete a bunch of texts. Other than that, the laptop seems to be running fine. It does not do this all the time though.

Hello, I’m sorry if this has been addressed but I don’t really know how to search for it
I was on OC 2.4.0 and tried to update to macOS 15.6.1, when it rebooted it went to a black screen with pickbootefi, shell and resent NVRAM

This might have something to do but before the install I merged two partitions together

BEWARE!!

I've updated OCLP from 2.4.0 to 2.4.1 last week. Today, when I checked if a release for Sequoia was available, softwareupdate offered to install macOS Tahoe 26.
Obviously I declined!
I'm not sure if that is in error or not, but be careful not to be tempted on installing Tahoe. OCLP still does not support it.

Did Apple not release 15.7 today? I just went to make a macOS installer, and the latest is still 15.6.1. I use the USB method instead of OTA to install updates to avoid having to manually re apply patches since the USB installer does it automatically.

Apple have just released Sequoia 15.7 just at the same time than Tahoe. I am downloading it but servers are very busy.

I guess OpenCore 2.4.1 is still broken then, because under create macOS installer 15.7 isn't listed. Just 15.6.1, and toggling the checkbox for older / beta releases doesn't help, in fact, it removes Sequoia all together.

I see that macOS Tahoe and Sequoia 15.7 are now available in Software Udpate on my OCLP volume of 15.6.1... I think I'll wait a while before considering an update to 15.7, just in case there are some OCLP updates as well.

macOS Tahoe 26: 16.92 GB
macOS Sequoia 15.7: 15.63 GB

Yes, that was my case too. However, my chat fellow was more forthright, and I never escalated to a senior advisor. My account was made right in just a few hours. The spam thing was baffling to me as well. With the number of coincidental complaints, I too wonder whether there were a system burp here. :)

I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro 15" that was running Sequoia via OpenCore Legacy Patcher until recently. Something went wrong--I think I may have inadvertently installed 15.6.2--and now it gives me the attached screen when I try to boot. I have tried to make a bootable Big Sur installation disk but I don't know if the "Install macOS Big Sur.app" file I downloaded makes a bootable disk or not. If it does, it has not worked. Can anyone think of another way to resurrect this machine? It was working fine and even though it is old I'd really like to still use it for various things. Thank you in advance for whatever help you can give me
