Kevo, thanks.
Could you please check this: restart your computer holding the option key together to the startup manager, thus going to EFI boot and then your individual volumes ( if you have more than one MACOS). See if that says "Sequoia" or "Sequoia-data"
It has no "- Data" on it, even in going through the EFI boot on startup, just my drive's name. I didn't name it Sequoia, but that shouldn't matter.

For those around here who see issues with their MBP 2017 and Touch Bar not working: I found seemingly unusual solutions. Posting below:

"Folks i found the answer. Just do a clean installation of ocp in your macbook. follow every step. Then boot normally. Youll notice that touchbar isnt working. Plugin an external drisk. restart computer and enter on recovery mode. (press and hold option + comand + R keys). Then open disk utilities and format the external disk. Do an installation of ventura on the external disk. Then boot normally on external disks ventura and Bingo! Touchbar is now working (all missing drivers were installed now). Open system settings and search for startup disk. Choose the disk with sonoma and restart. Now the touchbar is functioning properly. Good luck! 🤞"

"I found a much easyer solution. After patching , and everything when touchbar doesnt work, boot externally with mojave. When it is at login screen and touchbar lights up. Reboot in new macos and youre done :) did this more then 10 times works everytime"

Can someone test this in Sequoia?

Those that are on the beta train on 15.7.1 does passkey work for you in safari? Mine just gets stuck when using passkey on a website e.g Amazon .

Crazy, you don't even need to do all that. Just perform a clean install of Ventura on this Mac, then install Sequoia over it via OTA and then apply OCLP to the unit. It's quick and convenient and keeps all firmware active (Touchbar, Touch ID). I have the same model.

Would you keep Ventura on a second volume?

No, I only use the main drive for macOS. Ventura has lost support, so from now on I'll use Sequoia. If I stop there, I'll have Apple support until 2027. If I move on to Tahoe with a new version of OCLP, I'll have support until 2028. It all depends on how this new system runs on Intel Macs. Maybe in 2027 I'll buy a Mac Mini M4.

I changed my mind and went back to the Ventura, the last supported version on my 2017 Macbook Pro. Despite having 16GB of RAM and a quad-core processor, this latest Sequoia update to 15.7 made the fan work harder for tasks considered basic.

With the return to Ventura, phone calls on iOS once again display the name and accept/decline options on the touchbar. I can once again mirror my Mac screen to my Apple TV 4k gen3, features I lost with OCLP.

I prefer performance and better battery life over venturing into new systems via OCLP. If some applications lose support, I install a Linux VM, or if necessary, I upgrade a version of macOS to Sonoma via OCLP, after all, Apple maintains support for the last three versions.

When I tested screen mirroring with my late 2015 27" iMac with Sonoma, to my Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen, it worked fine. I don't think I've tested Sequoia. Sonoma could be a better option if you need a newer OS.

I have my iMac's Fusion drive configured with 2 APFS Volumes. The main one with Sequoia, and the second one with Monterey, last supported OS for this model. With all things considered, macOS hasn't changed that much in terms of daily use, so I could go back to Monterey if I had to.

Sonoma should be quite stable, as Apple no longer changes it that much, and as it is a version above the official one supported by the Mac I use, it should maintain the official video driver without needing to be updated by OCLP.

Just updated my MBP11,2 to 15.7.1
After I enter the username, a Sign in with your Passkey pops up. I click sign in and no password is asked, it jumps to the 2FA with the 6 digit code. After it automatically fills in the code from Passwords app, Amazon is logged in.

@MacinMan Screen mirroring works perfectly on the Sonoma, the problem was the Sequoia. I'll keep Sonoma 14.7.7 even on my 2017 MBP. A version that is still receiving support, with all the features I need, including all the noise control modes of the Airpods Pro 2.

I just tested Screen Mirroring on my late 2015 iMac to the Apple TV 4k 3rd Gen, and it doesn't work either. So for anyone needing that feature, Either Sonoma, or the last supported version the Mac can run.

For me, I don't use that function, so I can stick with Sequoia until I find something I need that doesn't work.

I don't use it much, but mirroring is useful when I'm missing an app for Apple TV 4K like Xcloud, and also if I need to play a video in the browser when Airplay isn't enabled.

This issue with Sequoia using OCLP is likely related to video driver kexts. I've read reports that when you use a higher version of macOS than the officially supported version, the previous video driver remains maintained by Apple. Therefore, post-installation in OCLP doesn't need to handle these files; this could be the explanation.

That doesn't seem to apply to my iMac, the video drivers need to be repatched even in Ventura, which is the next version up from Monterey, which is the last supported version. So, to have a fully native install, fro graphics I need to stay on Monterey for this iMac. However, with that said, Sequoia seems to be the only version with the most issues.

Hello, on my Imac 2012 since 15.3 I had lot of problems with the screen, crash and black square points. It was impossible to works more than 2 or 3 hours. On a forum, I found that it was a problem only on this model. He propose to switch off the transparency . Now I can use my Mac normally.
