I know that these wishes are probably unlikely, but personally I would like an enhanced Dock and Apple menu (also considering that Launchpad still hasn’t had any real evolution for years), and a centralized Software Update: not only for Mac App Store, but for all installed apps (like in Linux); and considering that the excellent MacUpdater app will sadly be discontinued and is for sale, it would be cool if Apple acquired it (or at least someone else which can manage the infrastructure): this would give also non-expert users a way to have all their apps automatically up to date, which is essential also from a security point of view. Another cool thing would be backups on iCloud also for Macs. Etc. etc. Anyway, let’s at least hope that he new interface (based on visionOS) will be beautiful, with a return to more transparency and 3D effects (see also Mac OS X up to Mavericks, for example)…

I’m ready to move on from the California based names.
How about dropping the name entirely...?

IIRC, back in the very early Mac OS X days (10.0, 10.1), the "cat-name" was not really used widespread by the public.
Maybe from Mac OS X 10.2 "Jaguar" it started to be used more and more, and it was cool. Using Mac OS X "Tiger" (rrooaarr!) was fun to call out!
But back then, it was the only  OS available... (well, the Server version was there... but okay)

But now we have all the other  OS (iOS, iPadOS, visionOS, tvOS, watchOS, airpowerOS, carOS, etc.) all these simply use the version number, which to me is fine and easier to identify which is which....

Personally, I would be fine if it will simply be called "macOS 16".

… Well, Launchpad could maybe be usable if it had automatic sorting of apps, into categories and/or alphabetically, similarly to i(Pad)OS:

But it must be automatic: otherwise, it will remain a mess, like it sadly has been so far…

change for the sake of change. please no. work on things like driver support of older but still needed hardware like DVD-R's ( until you need to access optiical media via tangle of adapters, you won't understand its not a happy place ) , all the usual security fixes and new hardware support. Something cool ? run legacy OS in VM for access to olders software & external hardware, where its a couple clicks to install and get running for those times when you need this. It would be really nice to see app binaries loose intel support and become 1/2 the curret size they are.

Launchpad would be a lot cleaner if they let me delete or at least hide apps I never use

Dark mode icons please. And maybe I’m missing it, but the ability to tell the system dark mode from this hour to this hour.

I'd love for better cloud management on laptops with smaller size. 512gb sometimes is not enough. EX: I don't need 180gb of text messages from the messages app. Make it so I can purge a lot of space if necessary. I am constantly using daisy disk to clean up what should be internally done.

Hoping 2018 Mini's and 2019 iMacs make the cut. I have a bunch to sell and I don't want the resale value to plummet.
The Intel Macs run Linux just fine. The problem with the 2018 Mini at least is the tiny non-upgradable storage on many of them. I was looking at upgrading the 2014 in the stereo cabinet mini to a 2018, but the prices remain high and storage very limited. The home server is another 2014 with both of the drives upgraded and running Linux. It works fine.

If Apple does dump all the Intel Macs they should still be salable as Windows and Linux boxes. The M1s are not there at all on Windows and not quite there on Linux.

Stop mucking around with UI and focus on refining and fixing what’s broken.
If they went back to Mohave's UI I'd be entirely content. I have old Macs running Tiger, Snow Leopard, El-Capitan, Mohave, Monterey, and Sonoma. (I ran Sequoia for a few months, didn't seem any better than Sonoma). I like Mohave the best.

Tiger updated for high resolution screens might look pretty good too.

New Features I need? None really. Ext4 support would be nice, but ExFat works fine for file exchange except on Tiger and AFP still works to that machine. More deletable "standard" apps would be good, by which I mean FaceTime, Home, Messages, News, PhotoBooth, Podcasts, Reminders, Siri, Stickies, and Voice Memos. Apps I never use and that clutter up the Applications menu.

Or they could fix Launcher so it's less of a pain in the butt.

The OS generally works, but so does Linux, and Linux has better support. My 2019 has support until 2029, and I suspect it will last longer than that. For that matter the 2009 Mini also runs (OK walks briskly with) Linux with support to 2029.

You can shove the apps you don't use onto another page. That's what I do. The apps I do want are all on the first page, the rest are somewhere I don't have to look at them. Then you have to organize them yourself.

I’m hoping macOS 16 is where Intel machines are cutoff. They’ll still receive updates for a couple more years with macOS 15. It’s time to leave the past behind.
Why? We know it will hurt people who spent good money for their Intel Macs, so what's in it for you if they drop support for Intel machines?

I am hoping for GPTK3 with improved translation. Most of my gaming these days is done on my M4 Max 14" through crossover. Would be nice to see frame generation implemented for Native Games as well through a Metal feature or something like that.
