Couldn’t care less about the camera and feel as if the target audience for this monitor won’t either. The current one is fine, think only promotion(120hz) would actually get people to upgrade.
120hz would be the update for sure. I would say a camera would be good though too, was a pain having to get the logi cam. In a professional setting video calls are just part of day to day now.

Not surprised to see Apple bring Center Stage to the display as it seems to be added to more devices. Would like Apple to bring out a replacement for the 27" iMac or maybe an even bigger one. Hopefully that will also happen.

As long as Apple Studio Display 2 offers a glossy coating again, Apple has already done a lot right.
The following attributes should also be implemented:

1. 6k resolution with 218 PPI, ergo = 31.5"
2. 120Hz+ (with Thunderbolt 5, Hertz should technically be able to exceed 120)
3. More connections than just Thunderbolt 5, i.e., also DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1
4. Speakers
5. A webcam that could support both Face ID and Windows Hello.
6. Price not exceeding US$ 2,200
7. And again, for the sake of completeness -> GLOSSY!!!!

The XDR and XDR 2 displays are not targeted towards most Apple users. They're for professionals (and serious users) who need the best color accuracy and uniformity for processing images and videos. It's not for gaming, general computing, etc.
That's why they include a Center Stage camera, which no professional ever needs, right?

I know, I know. Broken record. Hope springs eternal!

40” 8K tandem OLED. No webcam.

Actually, I don’t care about the tech per se but the results, so a great miniLED can work (see: MBPro). All other miniLED screens I’ve used are not good enough for me.

Barring that, major improvements to the 32” 6K version. No webcam. Or a simple and easy way to disable it. I’ve already got my eye on that ASUS ProArt 32” 6K but if Apple’s is much better it may well be my time…

I think Dell should step up and seize the open market for 120hz 5k and 6k displays with uniform bezel thickness and an aluminum or magnesium body/stand. No obnoxious "status" LEDs that may or may not blink depending on "status" (omg it's not 1994 anymore). No front-visible buttons or USB ports, either. TB5 hub w/ 2.5g ethernet.

I think a 6k 120hz XDR2 is a possibility but it would cost a fortune - like $6,499. And the 1st gen XDR stands put in newer boxes and repriced @ $1,499 lol. Likewise for a 5k 120hz Studio Display - IF it happens the price will be astronomical. And does anyone realistically think there will be inputs other than Thunderbolt? I've got a bridge to sell you.

The desktop display market needs some new blood in the space between plastic gamer trash and $30k Flanders Scientific (CEO pictured below)

Oh dear Pro XDR Display - you are always on my bucket list since the Cinema Display in early 2000. My status have changed ever since. But still I can never pull the trigger over you. I have the Vision Pro that costs cheaper than you, do more than you, and yet still ...

It's madness that in Space Year 2025 miniLED monitors from Apple are limited to a $5k display. High brightness miniLED panels are now common in low-midrange 4K TVs (e.g. TCL televisions). 120 Hz MiniLED displays that produce 1-2000 nits brightness are not uncommon. Adding a 5k or 6k liquid crystal front plane will push up the cost, as will the factory calibration for the Pro XDR display, but nowhere near $5k!

The minimum I would expect for next gen Apple displays is

27": MiniLED, 1000 nit (full screen) 120 Hz 5K
32": either tandem OLED, RGB miniLED or very high density miniLED, 3000 nit, 120 Hz 6K

Tim Cook is clueless and tasteless. Why would anyone put a built-in webcam in a professional-grade display? How cheesy and tacky! If people who spend large sums of money to buy a professional-grade display want a webcam, they probably want a high-quality 4K external webcam, such as the $199 Logitech MX Brio, not some low-quality built-in webcam. (Despite Apple's dishonest claims, there's no such thing as "high-quality built-in webcams" if they are compared to third-party external webcams being sold at the same time.)

It wouldn't be surprising if the Pro Display XDR 2 also includes built-in speakers because a bad desicion like that is something we've come to expect from Tasteless Tim.

7k would be perfect in an ultrawide: a 7k3k 34" 21:9 display would be an ultrawide version of a 5k 27" 16:9 screen
we dont work in ultrawide, and we need 8k....7k is in between, half baked and doesnt help anyone but Apple with charging more than 6k

I'm not aware of any other 5K displays with a glossy glass screen, the alternatives all seem to have a matte finish.
Firstly: I like that you also like glossy screens, because they simply offer the best quality :)

Second: The truth is so obvious... just take a look at the threads in the “Mac Accessories” section here on MacRumors... we've been discussing alternatives to 5K 218PPI and, of course, 6K 220 PPI monitors for many months now, and the new 5K 218PPI Philips, for example, also has a glossy display.

No. You don't work in ultrawide...plenty of other people do.
But the problem is that worldwide no ultrawide 218PPI is existing.
Or perhaps Apple has installed its own ultra-wide 218 PPI panel production line in the basement of the Pentagon, making this project so top-secret that no one in the world has heard anything about it.

Not very likely, is it? ;)
