macOS 27.0 Golden Gate RC - What's New?

Things that worked perfectly in MacOS are broken in MacOS27 which is very frustrating for a bug fix release. Bugs in new features are to be expected of course but regression bugs like these are less than ideal.

Find My uses dark mode and doesn't respect the Auto mode for light/dark mode.
App Expose doesn't show minimised windows.
Mission Control doesn't number spaces correctly. Instead of getting individual numbers independent of monitor, it restarts the number for each monitor. Keyboard shortcuts shows the correct space number

I just installed the RC. The only glitch I've seen so far is that with apps set to "fill" the menu bar will disappear when I initially switch to it. If I click on the invisible menu bar, Finder moves to the front. I can then switch back to the app and the menu bar is visible. What's curious about this is that if I "fill" using the old way of double clicking a corner edge while holding down the option key, it doesn't trigger this bug.

Also, Xcode is now disabled and there's no update available in the App Store. Luckily, it's not something I rely on.

Was the RC pulled or something? I'm not seeing it. Maybe RC2 today?

I am not sure if that has happened with Tahoe pre-release VM's as well, but all 27 betas do show only American timezones being available to select and automatic location-based selection is "beaming" me to Cupertino as well while I am on other continent. Is this supposed to be "known issue" with pre-release in VM?
 
Can anyone running the RC confirm if Apple has finally fixed the issue where the desktop background turns black when scrolling through Spaces while Mission Control is open? Thanks in advance!
 
Every time I launch Notes it resets the notes list to the narrowest width possible, where you can't read anything. You can only avoid it by hiding the sidebar before quitting the app.

I don't know what's happening at Apple where a basic bug in the default view of a very popular app has survived through several betas until the RC.

Thanks for confirming! It’s been a long-running issue with version 26, so it’s good to know that it’s finally been resolved with version 27.

Although, judging from what’s been said here so far, it seems quite a few new ones have popped up.

For me this "RC" is glitchy as hell. Random stutter, slow down and speed up in mission control animations. Bad design in apps still, bad text formatting. Missing icons. I did a clean install.

and that's just surface stuff I noticed.

Same for Passwords. In both cases, if you hide the sidebar, then it remembers the width of the detail list (notes, passwords). Maybe it's all three-pane windows? Though, Mail works right.

They are terrible. News for example never remembers window placement or size. Using it feels like its a java app from 2004. It’s gotten a bit more performant on Apple silicon but still feels slow and cumbersome for such a piddly little nothing of an app.

When you can’t compete against react/electron, yikes!

I like Unread but I am grandfathered into a no subscription plan because I purchased it when it first came out (before it was sold to another developer) so to me it’s essentially free to use. I add my own RSS feeds manually but it supports Feedly amongst others if that’s your thing. It’s clean and very polished with a very active development team, and the current owners seem like decent people. They could have killed it and launched a new version cutting out all the old user base like me, but they didn’t. Props to them for that.

I came from Reeder originally which is still in production but also a solid news client. NetNewsWire is also an option and open source.
