Why do I get the feeling people will miss the current MBP design language and pine for it's return.

Last time Apple got all fancy in the pantsy with the MBP design it was a disaster. The Pro model is meant to be a tool, not a toy. Keep it that way.

Don’t think it’s going to happen, it’s just rumors. It makes sense Apple added touch screen functionality for sidecar use with iPads since the iPad primary method of input was designed around touch.. Pull to refresh and a pill shaped dynamic island element is just Apple unifying all operating systems.
It would make more sense for Apple to produce a touch screen monitor such as a 27 inch monitor that would work beautifully for using creative applications.

Will the Ultra be like a mobile Mac Studio in RAM capacity and processing (and price over the Mini)?

Well, if they make it lighter than the actual MPB I'll take it! But I wouldn't be surprised if M6 PRO runs warmer on the ULTRA. Let's wait and see.

Been waiting 20 years for this

Speaking only for myself, touch screens make Eos programming much easier. The interface was designed for touch enabled lighting consoles and is painful to use with a mouse. (Less painful with keyboard shortcuts but not nearly as immediate, especially when busking, as a touch surface.)
But then you want a touchscreen iMac right? I currently use a touchscreen PC for GrandMA but I’m not sure how much I care since I use the mouse about 75% of the time

I can't figure out how I feel about touchscreen. It might be one of those features that I never knew I wanted until I have it. I do know that when I'm showing a document or website to a friend on my MacBook Pro, probably 90% of them go to touch the screen to scroll or select. They are then very surprised when their only result is a smudged screen!

Why would anyone need a Dynamic Island on the Mac? All of the features of the Dynamic Island are already available via the menu bar…

For another example, the iPad has never had a Dynamic Island or been rumored to have one.
FWIW, the current cutout is really annoying - especially since Apple hasn't managed to deal with it for the toolbar.

There are third party solutions, but it is definitely something Apple should have looked at when they released the first laptop with it - and for every release since.

I'll be interested in purchasing the Ultra to "upgrade" from a fully-spec'd M3 Pro Max, but only if can be configured with 16TB HDD. If it maxes at 8TB, then it's not "Ultra" to me. 8TB is just not enough for the work I do. HOWEVER, if they built this unit to allow the screen to be fully articulated into tablet mode, I'd purchase regardless of an 8TB limit.

I still don’t understand the appeal of a touchscreen on a laptop. Ergonomically, it’s terrible. I have a Surface Laptop and I’ve never used the touchscreen even once.

I don’t get why Apple feels the need to force themselves to follow this trend. And honestly, is there really anyone who wants to hold their arm up and poke the screen like they’re doing a workout?

That's because people who write programs haven't been taking advantage of this capability (yet).

For example, once it's available, developers will be able to take advantage of people being able to move their finger to the required point rather than first move the finger to the trackpad and then watch the pointer move as it tracks to the required point. The latter is cognitively more complex.

Sure, but get me an arm stand first - wouldn't want my shoulder to unionize. Honestly, what you said is beyond ridiculous and retaxxd. This has nothing to do with design. "Trackpad first, then screen" - wow, groundbreaking. Tell me, have you ever heard of this revolutionary little gadget? It's called a mouse. Lives on your desk, not hiding in whatever cave you crawled out of. It does everything - without you smudging up the screen with your precious little fingers for two straight minutes. But please, keep lecturing me about ergonomics.

Apples decision to abandon the PowerBook name was disappointing and unfortunate. The replacement name landed as flat and uninspiring.
Funny thing is, if I recall correctly the fastest processor on the Powerbook was a Motorola G4 which wasn't very powerful at all. It did however stay cool and quiet.

No hint of cellular? 🥺
I don't understand why everyone wants cellular. Wouldn't it be just as easy to tether to your iPhone which you're already carrying around and paying for? Is it a convenience thing or a speed thing or...?

Heck, while you're at it, why not ask for satellite as well. 😉

If you are not capable of moving your arm to a screen unaided, an iPad is not for you, and perhaps you should get some strengthening exercise.

Oh, brilliant logic. Truly. I'm clearly talking about that one casual tap you give your iPad when you feel like it. You absolute genius. No - try holding your arm up and touching the screen continuously for two minutes. Then another two. Then another. Go ahead, I'll wait while your shoulder files for divorce. And thanks, but I'll pass on the "strengthening exercises." My arms work fine. In fact, they work well enough that I could swipe you clean back into your mother's womb with a single punch. But sure - tell me more about my workout routine.
