Can someone tell me how to exit full screen mode when in clamshell mode? The ESC button does noting. The only way I've been able to close a full screen universal app is to open the clamshell and multi swipe on the trackpad. Theres gotta be a better way right?
Esc button doesn't work? Very strange. Did you try tabbing out?
 
I am looking forward to be able to use apps on full screen on an external monitor connected to an iPad (without black bars). Now it is limited to movie players & (PowerPoint) presentation view.
 
I have downloaded a few and downloaded the official reddit app via imazing which works well I would say
 
I tested it with my own published game (that dynamically scales to fit the resolution) and it runs as an ipad app just scaled up. It's slightly blurry on a 4k screen.
Glad to hear such info from a dev. I hope more apps will be optimized and scaled up. Apple said that now all devs can create only one binary for all three platforms, how does that works?

The update for me fixed the problem with menu items which did not remember their position on the menu bar. It was extremely annoying but now it seems to have been fixed.

All mac arm devices are very similar so they mostly share the same code base. There are conditional loops in the code that will change things depending on the device but that's really about it. The developer uploads the whole build and Apple will divide it up on their server. Which binary you end up downloading depends on which app store you're in.

I was under trhe impression they ship fat binaries.
 
Why not release iOS Rosetta for x86? :p
Because an ARM-to-x86 transpiler is almost completely different from an x86-to-ARM transpiler, and Apple doesn't see the upside of putting in a lot of work to port new features to an old platform they're trying to move off and in the process remove one of the incentives to upgrade to a new Mac.

Why support such a thing? You are correct it doesn't make sense to put dev resources on that and support that for the next few years.
 
If Apple is going to support Intel hardware and software for the next two years and than several years of updates then an iOS emulation could be useful.
