I wish they to add the little pictograms in menues back, in front of every command, like in Tahoe. It is easy to memorize the signs than to read entire commands.

It was them damned "purists" who screamed everywhere to get rid of these "ugly", "inconsistent" and "useless" icons, which made their OCD go mad because some entries had them and others not.

That's why we "cant have (some) nice things"...

Don’t post uninformed theories please. The changes was because of developer frustrations.

Those SF Symbol icons next to menu commands are a SwiftUI feature. Many app developers don’t use pure SwiftUI menus because the rules are very restrictive and there are some menu items you can’t build with SwiftUI, so developers have to fall back to AppKit or UIKit menus.

Only if there’s the option to completely disable all of them. Even running Terminal commands, several persist. Personally I hate these glyphs, and I don’t say that lightly.

In screenshots, the inactive buttons look oval, but they look particularly oval in actual use on my MBP. It reminds me of how icons looked tilted in the ‘26 operating systems because of the slanted angle of the highlights. I’m not sure if the solution is to flatten the inactive traffic light buttons, but I’m not opposed to that idea.

While I’m on my soap box, title bars and other elements of the system seem even more transparent in beta 7, which is extremely disappointing.

The active and inactive buttons are both circles. My pixel counts on the tool didn't make it into the screenshot, but the x and y distances were the same..

They just look like eggs ovals from the distance. I observed that too when I tried to redo some liquid-glass-buttons on one of my HTML projects (I never will run of ideas as long as Apple brings me new). My solution was to put an angle onto the highlighting, as well as balance the brightness and darkness of the borders. A shadow (even barely visible) makes the element look more circular aswell. If you look closely, you'll see that the yellow button in the post above has a yellow halo that might try to do the same.

Another issue, but I kinda like it. If the Mac went in sleep from the screen saver, after waking up, the desktop remains alive and animated. I wish this to be a setting to turn it on or off.

I prefer iTerm instead of Terminal. It is free. It is much easier to remember those gliphs than to keep reading entire phrases. But I agree, de gustibus non disputandum. It should be optional to turn it on or off.

It would require some scientific study to know If those icons are actually useful or not. Like they used to do in the '90 when desktop UI were actually made, not the today slopped changes based on feelings.

No one would seriously recommend a beta version for a work-laptop or any other device you rely on.
